Foggy

Last night as mum left work it was the foggiest she had ever seen in her city.  Hard to see buildings across the road.

When mum got up the hill where she lived, you could see the fog sitting over the city.  

 This morning was beautiful and blue skies, but if you look closely you can see a small bit of fog still sitting behind the houses.

Home

 As mum left work there was a foggy autumnal mist descending over the city, and it has turned to rain this evening.  Soon she will have to take a jacket and umbrella with her, and swap out her lightweight shoes for boots. The heater has been turned on to take the chill out of the air before bed.

Mum cooked a corned beef with vegetables for her dinner, something she doesn't make very often but it reminds her of  her childhood.   She offered me some beef, but i didn't want any.  I got some temptations though, so I'm happy.

Afternion Tea

 Had my dinner at 3.45pm.  On my mums bed for 5 hours so far. 

Break

 There was a nice break in the weather.   Mum got towels and uniforms washed and dried ready for the week ahead.  I got some warm naps in too.

Friday

 Mum and I are glad that it is Friday.   It was windy and stormy again last night, so I climbed all over mum while she was sleeping and woke her up a couple of times.  So I'm tired today.  

Quiet

Life has been quiet here.  Autumn is in full swing, it is much darker in the mornings now and we have had days if grey rainy weather.  Mum is wondering when it will be sunny again snd when she can get her washing out on the line.  I try to get out in the garden where I can to enjoy a bit of fresh air.

Thunder + Lightning

 It was hot and sweaty as mum left work, and she melted once she got home from the supermarket.   She had a vanilla ice cream to cool down and some glasses of cold water to make her cool down.  

Now the skies have got darker and some thunder + lightning have started.  Don't worry I'm already snoozing and haven't noticed yet.

Puzzle

 I like to help mum do some sudoku puzzles.

Sniffing

 Today there was lots of sniffing that needed to be done on my afternoon patrol.

Treats

Mum could not resist these 2 oven gloves and teatowel that she bought this morning.  For $6 they were an inexpensive treat.  Mum met a bestie and her partner for a lunch in the sun.  They then  visited a garden centre and then sat in the sun at a bar and enjoyed a nice cold drink. 

 She is horrendously tired and hopes that she is able to sleep well tonight.  Last night she only managed a 3.5 hour snooze.  She had only got to sleep at 3.30am, and I woke her up at 5am to tell her something very important, except i forgot what it was.  Better luck tonight mum.
 

Repeat

 Every morning this week it has been cloudy and looking like rain, but clears and is lovely by the afternoon.   So mum didn't stay in bed too long and washed all of her uniforms and clothes.  Mum then soent some time trying to take photos of me in the garden,  which i tolerated a little.  Just a smidge.  Best of all her night shifts are over.

 I am waiting for mum.  One more night of nightshift and then she is back home with me.

Wake Up

Wake up mum  - it's 1.30pm and you still asleep.   I'm not sure what nightshift means, but you been in bed too long.   As soon as mum got up, i went back to bed for my 6 hour nap.

Chilled

 Us girls just relaxed again today.  Mum is heading into nightshifts again and felt a bit blah today.  I gave her 4 snuggles which made her mood improve. 

Quiet

 Mum and I had the quietist of days.  She did a few chores and I relaxed.   There was some sunshine peeking through, but it was a mostly cloudy day here.  Mum loved sleeping in and reading her book  - preparing for winter.

April

 Mum was on her way home when this little apricot neighbor came over and wanted some loving from my mum.  She rolled around and begged for lots of pats from my mum, and mum saw her cute little nameband that said she was called April.  Mum reassured her, and told her that her mum and dad would be home soon.

Evening

 Mum's at work again this evening and it might be a late one.  She's helping out her colleagues on a busy shift.   I'll wait for her.

Reflections

When mum went to the cinema the other day the building opposite had all these mannequins in the window.  She thinks it is part of the design school here.  

Tonight is super busy for mum.  It may not even be a midnight feast for me, it might go on even later than that.  I've got a big bowl of biscuits and fresh water so I won't starve, but I'll be ready as soon as she gets in the door.

Swaps

 Mum got up at 6am and was at work by 8, only to find out a colleague was sick, so she volunteered to go home and come back to work.  9am was a good time to get shopping,  as all the workers were stocking up.  So i was surprised to see her back home and had to give uo my spot so that she could have a nap.  

Then she took herself back to work at 3pm  for the evening  and her planned week of day shifts has now turned to evening shifts.  Oh well more sleep ins for us girls.  

Culture 2

After going out yesterday,  mum continued her weekend of culture and took herself out to a midday movie.   Death on the Nile was her movie of choice, which she feels after watching was a bit of a dud, being more style over substance.  She liked the mix of actors, but there was no real magic in the movie and in places felt it was a little cgi heavy.  Also the characters were moaning about the heat while wearing 3 piece suits or heavy dresses without looking sweaty.  She would give it a 3/5.

Mum then went for a wander and bought some new wash cloths, and bread.  She felt very elderly ordering her dinner at 4pm, but she did not want to go out again once home.   Iwas glad to have her home and got my dinner just after 4pm too.  
 

Culture

 After a bit of a jaggered week, mum had to turn off the news, switch off the internet  and take herself out.  Her bestie joined her at the museum to look at New Zealand painter Rita Angus exhibition.   There were some lovely paintings, that even though they are 60+ years old would still look nice up on the wall.

The girls had lunch, then mum had a wander and ventured into shops for a couple of little treats.   There had been protesters causing chaos in the city for a couple of weeks, and mum had avoided going into town.  Now she wants to support local businesses that have had a tough time lately. 

She got home by mid afternoon to join me in enjoying the warm sunshine.  We relaxed, ate and napped together.   Lovely. 

Friday

 Mum laughs when she remembers how she would rush go go out every Friday night, uf she wasn't working.    Now she is happy to spend the night with me, an easy dinner, doing the dishes and watching some shows.  Me - well i love having her home with me.

Sleepy

 I like to sit beside mum while she is reading at night, to remind her to turn off the light and go to bed.  Then i can climb between the quilts and meow at mum, then climb out and eat biscuits.   Then i can go to sleep.

Dinner

 Mum enjoyed her dinner.  She made corn fritters and hade some coleslaw with them.  I ate most of my feast too, which made her even happier.
