Thank You Friends

Thank you friends for your kind words of reassurance.  Mum would hate for us to be split up, it would have broken her heart, but it has been really really hard to find somewhere where we could both live.  Good friends had offered to look after me while mum sorted herself out.   Now that we have somewhere, we are going to make it work.  Mum is sleeping a bit better, and tonight made a chicken, vegetable and noodle stirfry to get some more balanced food.

We will have lots of of our stuff with us,and we have donated other goods to both the hospice shop and to the Salvation army stores to use.  We know we are lucky, we can afford a roof over our heads and food every night.

Oh and lucky us, we had a reasonable sized earthquake this afternoon.  It just shook the house and a couple of small ornaments fell down.  No one was injured, and it was centred quite a way away from our city.  Some roads have been damaged and quite a few people are without electricity in the towns closest to the centre of the earthquake.

  2. I was wondering how close you were to that quake, Poppy - I'm glad you and your human only had a little shaking and not much else.

  5. When you love an animal your greatest worry is losing them one day, one way or another. So glad you've found a new home together.

  6. Oh Dear, Poppy, all the stress of the move, AND an earthquake, too! We are purring for calm days ahead, and especially that the move will turn out to be good for you both. Hateful as it is to even think about yet another move, once you settle in, your Mum can later on browse around for a nicer place, if it doesn't turn out to be suitable. Purrs, purrs, and more purrs to you two...

A smaller house means it will just be that much more cozy!

  9. I'm glad to read that you and your mum have found a place to move to. If it's not as safe a location as where you currently live, maybe you shouldn't wander so much, Poppy. I worry about you as it is. And get used to the new place before you do start to explore. Keep us apprised!

  13. I'm signing on early, as I usually check on you before I go to bed. I heard about the earthquake and wanted to make sure you were both fine. Glad to hear you are. Poppy, home is where you make it. Yours will be filled with love no matter where you land. Bookcases come and go, but you will have each other and that is a blessing. Stay safe pretty kitty and take care of mum's stress level with some snuggles.
    Love,
    Deborah

  16. Oh goodness! I've been out of pocket for a while and had no idea you were going through such trials!!

When I moved from my apartment to my house I , too, had to downsize quite a bit. The biggest thing was my sofa that took up most of my tiny living room! Couldn't afford to get a smaller one until just last year (15 years later). You just do what you gotta do.

So glad you and Poppy don't have to part even for a short time...

  17. It's lovely that you two can stay together. So many landlords don't want to rent to people with pets. I'm sure Poppy will take the move in her stride. She will have familiar smells of your remaining stuff to comfort her, and all the lovely new smells of the new place to amuse her. XO
