Get ready -  it's the weekend and Poppy Q says have a good time, be safe and hope you get some good noms.

Weekend Eve

Tis the weekend eve here.  At four oclockish tomorrow afternoon mums weekend  will begin.  She has dreams of heading to the beach, but we think more wind, cloud and rain is in our future.  So maybe it will be movies and Thai noodles instead.  Either way, mum has a big stack of books and will get some nice noms at the supermarket tomorrow night (for her and for me).

We hope you all have something nice planned - big or small it is always nice to plan a little treat for your weekend.

Wordless Wednesday - Sweet Old Photo

Early Nightitis

Mums lack of weekend sleep is catching up with her.  Tonight, we're just going to watch a little show and then head off to bed by 08.30pm.  Sweet dreams everybuddy.

Snore on the Floor

I should be a model for birkenstocks - mums shoes make me pass out and have a snore on the floor.

Sunday Sleeping

Mum says Thank You for the sleep wishes.  After a couple of work visits, she got to bed at 3am this morning, and didn't get awakened again.  Because she is on again this evening an afternoon nap is in order - fine by me.

Sunday is a perfect day for taking it easy, we try not to have a lot planned, and as mum and I have stuck to the house all weekend, we haven't spent a lot of money either, which is good.

Bed

Helping mum make the bed is the bestest chore of the day.  Mum got called in a couple of times overnight, and got to bed at 6am for a couple of hours of sleep.  She didn't think she was tired, but when she got up she accidently put her face moisturiser in her hair - duhrrr.  Her hair is now nice and soft.

Windyliscious

Our city is known as Windy Wellington, and it is sure blowing a gale today.  Mum says the washing will be staying inside, and the windows closed.

Mum is on-call this weekend, so is hoping for some time at home imbetween jobs.  She made sure she got some sleep last night, in advance.

Thankful Thursday

Mum says that this week, it has been nice to come home and see me, and give me a kiss between my ears.  She also has been grateful for the small things, a nice dinner to eat, her friends and family, a warm bed, a good book and the time to sit on the couch and relax in the evening.  Not everybody gets to live a good easy life - be grateful for every day, life is short.

Herrow!

The sunbeams came back for a while today which was nice.  I'm all about the relax at the moment.  Mum is adjusting to work hours again, she says that it is hard when the alarm goes off at 6.30am.

Bolt Hole

When I want to go and hide, I head out here under the deck.  But, shhhssssh, don't tell anybody.

Sleepy Sunday

Mum took this picture last week when it was shining.  Today we have had more lashings of rain and thunder and only about 15C temps - exciting!!  So I am curled up on the dresser dreaming the day away.

Mum is glad she mowed the lawn last night, and today she has been productive cleaning up the spare room and getting rid of the box city that was living in there.  Cos it's a home day, mum is giving her hair a break from the hairdryer and straighteners, and no make up, just casual all the way.  She hopes her neighbours don't laugh when she takes the wheelie bin out for collection tonight.  She's not really worried, as they'll all be tucked up on their couches watching the tv keeping warm.

Five Dollar Jar

Mums not into New Years Resolutions - but she felt proud of herself.  Her and one of her besties figured out how to start the gas barbque last night by themselves.  Usually it is a mans task, but the girls had to do it themselves, and they felt like it was a new skill learnt for 2012.

One of the things that mum has done the past year, and is redoing this year is a $5 jar.  See every time mum goes to buy something, groceries, bus fares, fancy feast - if she is given a $5 note, she keeps it, takes it home and puts in a jar.  Every year then, when mum and the besties go to the art show, mum has a wad of notes to take with her.  If there is no art that she likes or can afford, then mum has a bit of money to treat herself to something nice.  It is amazing how quick the dollars add up, and now several of mums friends do it.

We were reading a post from our friend Leanne at http://cottagetails.blogspot.com/, she was talking about hand made gifts, and how they are the best because they are made with love.  Well this is the beautiful quilt that Leanne and her wonderful daughter  Abbey made for me.  We thought they might like to see the photos of me curled up on it on my sleepy position, on the chest of drawers in front of mums painting.

I love my quilt, it helps give me great sleeps, and mum says I need my beauty rest.

Sleeping Positions

 Tuesday 10 pm - on the wrapping paper on mums bed.  Cosy - stayed all night.

 Wednesday 10pm - on mums dresser next to her painting.  Liked it so much I'm back tonight.  Mum has cleared the stuff and put my poppy quilt up there.  Mum said I did snore a bit , but so does she.

Thursday 2pm - mum got back from the garden centre to find me snuggled in the box of books.  I was only studying - I promise.

Wordless Wednesday

Lazy

Mum and I have been uber lazy on our days off.  We have sat inside, outside, on the couch, on the bed - basically anywhere we can rest out bodies.  She has read three books, lots of magazines, seen two movies, too much tv (Rachel Zoe project, the Middle and Modern Family).  Me - I've been hanging close, by her side.

We hope you have all had some lazy times over the holidays too - enjoy!!

Looking Out

 I keep looking out our window.  I'm waiting for the sunshines to come back.

 We had a touch of it this morning, I won't lie - it was nice.  I went out and rolled around on the deck

 Mum went out with one of her besties to watch a movie.  Then they tried to get some dinner, but all the restaurants were closed which mum was surprised by, as there were lots of people around.

So she came home and had tomato soup and toast, and I had the fancy feast.  Mums feeling a bit hungover from all the carbs, so we had to have a 6.45pm nap after dinner.

Welcome to 2012

Hi 2012 - we look forward to all the adventures the new year will bring to us, and hope that we stay healthy for the next twelve months. 

Mum went out in the rainy aftenoon on New Years Eve for a movie and eats with one of her besties.  She was home by 8pm, and me and her snuggled on the couch with the heater on, as it was cold in Wellington.  We then had an early night, and were snoozing before midnight, no party animals at our house.

Today we had a sleep in and a lazy day , a bit of gardening and curling up on the couch with a book.
