Colour

 Mum got bored this afternoon and pulled out her old colouring books and spent an hour or two doing some pictures.   Quite soothing she  said.   I sat and watched,  and snoozed.

Outsiding

 Mum said i had to enjoy my outsiding today, as the weather forecast is for more heavy rain fri/sat/sun.   Mum is planning a shop tomorrow and then to spend the weekend relaxing at home.   At least she won't have to worry about watering the garden.   We do wonder when the mower man will come?

 I helped my mum today.  She was trying to finish her book - Taste by Stanley Tucci.  She needed to finish it to return it to the library.  The sun was shining and she sat in my chair to read the last few chapters. 

Over

Nightshift is over - let the relaxing begin.
 

Cool

 Still wet and cool here, with our rainstorm still keeping us wet, with  rain nonstop 3 days in a row.  Its good for our parched garden, but mum has had to put the heaters on tonight.  She has one more nightshift to go and then lovely days off with no plans.  This afternoon she has been watching the Revenant, and feeling not so could. Looking at all the frozen wilderness on screen makes her grateful for the mild climate we live in, and also for a warm shower, clean clothes, a soft bed and a warm dinner.  

Rain

 A heavy rain system is hanging over our country at the moment.  Mum took these pictures last night as the clouds settled over our house and an hour before the rain started here.  The good thing was the temperatures dropped, letting her get a decent sleep after nightshift.   It also will be welcomed by our gardens whuch are parched from all the sun.   Mum is also not mad at sitting on the couch watching shows and eating snacks.  Me - I'm taking a nap.

Wordless Wednesday - Tik Tok Of The Week

 

Hello February

 February started gently with a layer of cloud.  Mum moved slowly today,  just pottering, doing a few chores, eating her leftover fried rice for lunc, which was better today than last night and watched some Call the Midwife.

The sun peaked through this afternoon on her walk, and she returned 3 books and picked up 5 more.  Shes storing a few in case, as Omnicrom picks up here , and she is nervous that libraries could get closed.  The supermarket wasn't too busy and she got everything she needed.  Another quiet evening at the Q house.

Thanks

 Thank you for the kind thoughts about my mum, her foot feels better today.  Resting it was the right idea, and she didn't go crazy today.  She had exciting jobs, to get some small items like a new jug for juice, hand cream, shampoo and some extras for dinner.   She had some leftovers so made a fried rice.  Somehow her homemade version never tastes as good as one from a good Asian Restaurant.   She'd give it a 5 out of 10.

I've had a quiet day too.  I sat outside with my mum in the evening,  enjoying the quiet night.  When we went inside i sat on the windiw, looking at the glowing sky.  How pretty.

Rest

 Mum had to rest her foot today, but it's feeling better tonight.

Delish

 Mum was surprised to see me clear my dish after last nights chicken fancy feast.  So this morning she headed to the supermarket to restock, and bought all 14 cans they had in stock. 

 On the way home, mum hurt her foot just stepping off the footpath. She thinks she has just pulled something in her heel, nothing major.   She hobbled home, and had to cancel her afternoon plans.  It is a bit better tonight, and hopefully will be fine by tomorrow. So the afternoon was spent resting which was fine by me.  

Summer

 This morning was a bit cooler than normal and mum felt good, as she had had the best nights sleep in weeks.  Only one lot of howling woke her up.  Who could have done that?

Washing was done and mum went out mid morning to catch up with friends for lunch.  She went for a walk and bought herself a couple of treats.  She got her 10,000 steps and enjoyed the views of the seaside.  The breeze was blowing the salty smells up onto the road and not too many people were in the water.

Mum headed home late afternoon,  her feet were getting tired snd she was glad to sit with a cool drink and read her boik in the sun.  But first there was a pat and a talk with me, and then my dinner.

Restless

Last night mum did not get much sleep.  Apparently somebuddy woke her up about five times, talking to her, jumping on her and rubbing their wet grey furs up against her.  I was only trying to tell her that it was raining outside and that I got wet when I went outside.

So tonight after a busy day at work mums going to bed at 8.30om to read her book and aim at least for 8 hours of snoozing.  Its cooler too, and that will help my middle aged mum sleep better.

 Mums working this evening,  it might be a late one she says.  I better just take a nap - zzzzzzz.

Monday

 Today was a public holiday in our city and although it was overcast it was still a warm summers day.  Mum awoke early and invited herself to lunch with friends.   She said she would bring the lunch and was surprised that the supermarket was not too busy.  She got bread, hummus, fresh pineapple,  grapes, biscuits and a slice.

On the way over to their house mum found a nice pile of hydranga bushes where she whipped out her camera and took plenty of pictures.   She enjoyed the company and food, and made it home in time to read her book in yhe sun, and then enjoy a nap with me.  Life is good.

Sunday

 Its Sunday evening and its beginning to get dark at 8.45pm.  Today has been a bit of an odd one, as the government is changing rules now as Omnicron has arrived in the country.  Mum gotvsome groceries ordered for delivery in the afternoon and tried to keep herself busy all day.  She did dishes, washing, swept up leaves from down the path and hoovered.  Groceries got put away and dinner made.  She found a supply of fancy feast to be delivered so she knows we have enough if we have to isolate.   We watched the news where supermarket shelves in Australia have been cleared out.  Mum had restocked the pantry and freezer so we're ok.  

I spent the day and evening furring up the new quilt.  

Oh and want to hear someone funny.  Mum was watching the news while she dried her hair this morning.   She thought it said that hairdressers would have to close,  and mum was hanging out for her February appointment, so she stomped into the bathroom and gave her fringe/bangs a sneaky wee trim as she was annoyed with it hanging in her eyes.  When she checked the website she found out that she can keep her appointment as long as she shows her vaccine pass.  Oh well it will settle in the next couple of weeks before her appointment. 

Light

 Mum made the bed last night and put some new summery bedcovers on.  At first she didn't like it, but today she enjoyed seeing the bright and light colors.   It also got my seal of approval. 

The day was beautiful with blue summer skies and it was hot.  Mum even wore shorts and a tshirt to town - who cares if her old lady pale legs are out, so are everyone elses.  Mum treated herself to a sushi lunch and got some chicken and salad to make wraps for dinner.  Then home to chat to me and sit in the sun and read her book.  She got it finished - is it weird that she gets excited that she can start her new book tonight, when she goes to bed?
