3 Bar Night

Last night was nippy, so we had all three bars on the heater.  It was recorded as the coldest night of the year here in Wellington, and in some places in NZ it was the coldest recorded night in 90 years!!  However the snow clouds blew away overnight and we woke to a frosty morning, and a sunny winters day.  I have been giving mum lots of cuddles in the evening to keep her warm, and she has been filling her tum with homemade soups.

We  sure admire our friends who spend all their winters buried in snow.  We don't know how you do it.  Of course you probably don't live in hundred year old wood houses like ours.  Places in NZ don't usually have any central heating but we are lucky as our house is reasonably insulated.  Oh, and we have a big warm cosy bed to share at night.

  3. That's so desperately cold for those who live in climates not accustomed to it. We hope everyone is safe and warm....Breaking 90 year cold records isn't anything to take lightly in homes without central heating!

Stay warm, Poppy! You look so comfortable in front if the heater.

  5. Stay warm! We are glad you have a well insulated house! We all have heat here but not air conditioning as it rarely gets warm (and still hasn't this year!) so we can't imagine a winter without central heating or major heating in every room!

  6. Thank goodness you have a well insulated home and a nice warm fire. Hopefully, the severe weather will be gone quickly, how awful. How did your garden survive? One very cold snap can do such damage to plants and trees and your garden is so beautiful!

  7. Sorry it's been so cold there, Poppy. But it sounds like you and your Mum are taking good care of each other (and staying cosy, too)!

  8. If it were to snow here in the southern California lowerlands (and it has about two or three times in the past hundred years), we would be in the same situation as you guys in your part of NZ! Totally not prepared for the weather. I am glad you and your human are in a house that has decent insulation and are managingto stay warm and cozy.

  9. Wow, that's some cold! Yes, we usually have snow cover all winter, and we do live in a 100 year old house. :-) But we manage.

  10. We survive snow just fine by staying inside. Central heating etc. You stay warm.
