Today was the final race of the Americas cup racing in San Francisco. After being beaten for the past few days, we knew it would take a miracle for the Kiwis to win, and the whole country had fingers, toes and paws closed. Team Oracle outsailed us and they won the cup - good on them. It was a great event, and we wish that more people had got to watch it. We were lucky as it played out live here each morning at 8am, so we would rush to work early so we could watch it before work, or if we were lucky and it was quiet we could snatch a look between jobs. It was a great show on the beautiful harbour and we will miss watching it.

It was a shame Poppy!
ReplyDeleteI did'nt think that the British chap should have been allowed to take part in it...Ben Ainslie is British...NOT..American! The Americans would 'NEVER' have won it on there own....! HeHe! So There!!!
(I put my soap box away now)x
Glad you enjoyed it, even though the kiwis didn't win it. Good on you!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day, ladies!
Glad you enjoyed it. Sounds fun to watch it in between jobs.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the NZ boat lost it was still a win for the NZ sailing community since so many of Oracle's crew were from NZ.
ReplyDeleteBen Ainslie turned things around, certainly.
It seems the Americans had to borrow everything in order to win. Not to worry, Poppy, New Zealand's still the country I'd prefer.
ReplyDeleteWe really wanted NZ to win this year!
ReplyDeleteIt was great to watch, wasn't it? Those huge boats really fly! I wouldn't be brave enough to go on one :-)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what we will all talk about now...

ReplyDeleteIt was a good match and at least here in the US, if it wasn't on one of the sports channels, mum could come home and we could watch it on line.
ReplyDeletePlus being near the shoreline, people could watch there. So maybe some new sailing fans were made.
We still wish you guys had won.
Awww....we is sorry your team didn't win. But we is happy you enjoyed it. Maybe next year!
