As you may be able to tell - I do not approve of Guy Fawkes night. Lots and lots of fireworks have been going off every evening of the week, but we are sure there will be more tonight, and a big public display on Saturday night in town. Last night, some idiots were letting them go off around 1am, waking up the whole neighbourhood. Thankfully some other neighbour went out to tell them off.
We know that in many states in Australia the public cannot buy any fireworks, there are only organised public displays. Lots of people are trying to get that to happen here. Thankfully there are not the bangers that were around years ago, as they were only ever used to frighten people and animals.
Hope your night is more peaceful than ours.

It must be pretty horrible to have all those fireworks going off Poppy. We can't let off fireworks here, just official ones although sometimes for Chinese New Year we do hear a few going off but not enough to frighten us.

ReplyDeleteI-HATE-FIREWORKS....AND..ALL That goes with it...!
ReplyDeleteIt should be banned once and for all....
It frightens animals, pets, and even children! :(.
I can never understand the English...Celebrating Guy Fawkes!
When in fact he was, what we call now..A terrorist! (Calm down Willie)! HeHe!
I'll put my soap box away now! And, pray for rain to-night!
Take care Poppy!x
What a bummer that you have to deal with that cacophony, Poppy! Well, New Zealand sounds like a pretty awesome place the rest of the year!
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy, isn't it awful. Folks are still letting them off over on my side of town and it's 11.10pm!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your dear Mum can get some sleep. Sending care and huggles,
Michelle
We don't have Guy Fawkes Night here, but fireworks go off on Canada Day, our national holiday, and at the end of Whoop-Up Days, our local annual festivities. In both cases, my cats dislike them. I can sympathise, Poppy.
ReplyDeletePoppy, your face is very grumblated. Now I know why!
ReplyDeleteHoping your evening is much better!
Have you signed the petition? It's an online one, if you google fireworks petition I'm sure you will find it. I've done it.
ReplyDeleteMy Poppy was on the roof trying to catch the sparkly things - not at all worried, while poor little Yoshi trembles and squeaks at every whoosh and bang. Like you, ours go for DAYS, and at all hours. It is now 5am and some stinker has just let some off.
Shooting is too good for some people!
Stay safe girls
XO
I don't like fireworks either...I hide when I hear them. Hope it gets quiet there soon so you can relax.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, fireworks don't seem to bother us much. Being a large familyof cats may have something to do with it. Hang in there, dear, it'll be over soon.

ReplyDeleteThe fireworks are not too close to us but I still don't like the bangs. Eric used to sit in the window and watch them in the distance.
ReplyDeleteNo wonders you is looking upset Poppy! We don'ts like loud noises either. We hopes tonight is quiet so you and mum gets some good sleeps!

Nice and quiet here Poppy. No fireworks, just rain.
ReplyDeleteWe can buy them here but cannot set them off in the towns or city! And if we have burn bans because of the drought, they are not allowed to sell them. Even so, there is usually a fire that is started by them!
