Chilled

Yesterday was a busy one for mum. She took her nephew and his two friends out on the town (there were two 13 years old and one 7 year old). They went on the cable car, to the Wellington museum, Te Papa, to see the Dragonboat champs, to the movies and let them walk past the rappers concert on at the park down the road - awesome!!

She then made them camp out in the spare room together, and after having to tell them to stop playing video games and got to sleep several times, they got a good nights sleep, and mum and I got to have her room to ourselves.

Dragging them out of bed took ages, and then mum took the boys and their bags out for a greasy big breakfast, and then right across town to watch their sisters march in a marching competition in the sun.

So - tonight we rest.

Garden

I have been hiding in the garden, but when everybody got home I was inside. I have been brave though and come in and sniffed the teenage boys shoes - mmmmmm.

Have a lovely weekend everybuddy.

Boxes

Mum has cleared those boxes, and now they're empty. Only about 10 more to do, then she will clear the stuff she has put in the closets. Should be done by Christmas. A busy weekend ahead, so we won't get much done, but we are trying to do some tidying up imbetween watching Graham Norton.

This spare room is cleared up a bit, cos we might have some visitors tomorrow, so now I am planning my retreat in the garden.

Walking Around

A big part of my day is patroling the house, checking out for intruders. A big part of mums day seems to be checking out the news, especially the news about Japan. Poor people and animals there, they must be very frightened. We are also thinking about some of our friends here. A couple of girls that mum works with are rescue workers in Christchurch, and after a couple of weeks work here, they have flown out straight away to help in Japan. We are thinking of them too.

Exploring

I likes to do lots of exploring in my new garden. Today though mum thinks I stayed in one spot, as when she got home I was in the same spot I was in when she left. Mum wishes she could have stayed in bed all day too.

Maybe I'll do some more exploring later in the week.

Quiet

With all of the craziness in the natural world lately, especially the horror of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we have been sticking close to home. Mum and I had a quiet one, and entertained a friend for dinner, and mum even made a cake!!! She said it was nectarine and vanilla and was very tasty.
Can you see me using my catdoor? Mum got a stool outside the door and a box inside that I use so I can climb in and out. So, mum has moved the litter tray away, and I am using the garden now.
Have a great week everybuddy.

Gosh

Poor Japan, such horrid news and we all feel your pain at the moment. We have had a tiny surge at the beaches here so far, so no swimming for any kiwis today. We cannot even begin to imagine how scary this is for your people, and our thoughts are with you.

Friday Fit Club

Well, mum says she isn't doing too well at the losing 10%. She did the shopping this morning though and got lots of fruits and veg, and is trying to keep the walking up while the weather is nice.
She is trying to also limit how much I have, with smaller portions although being on shift this week she feels she has to leave some for me in my bowl while she is gone over 8 hours. She thinks I am not looking quite as svelte as I was when I came back from fat camp over four weeks ago.
Best of luck for the week ahead - keep up the good work!!

Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired

Last weekend, my friend Huffle mentioned that it was 27 degrees in Melbourne where she lived, cos we said it was cold here. It was about 12 degrees on Sunday in Wellington, and some nights have dropped to about 8degrees. Thankfully the last three days it has warmed up again, and the days and evenings have been lovely.
Last night was rubbish night on our street, so I stayed outside playing til 3am. Mum got up and came outside to find me, and tell me it was past my bed time. So today I was tiiiiiiiiired, and mum found me snoozing on the back deck catching up on my zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.

Helping Out

Last night I helped mum out when she put the electric blanket on the bed. The last few nights have been a bit chilly, and I have been back in my winter sleeping position between mums knees.

Sundaybeams

It was a good to day when we glimpsed the sunbeams, as it was rather chilly and autumn was felt in the air. In fact mum has two heaters on, warming up the living room and bedroom, and is thinking about digging out the electric blanket.

Our Saturday and Sunday have both been quiet, with us girls pottering around the house, and mum not venturing out and spending money, just quiet time together.

A Letter To My Mum......................

Dear Mum,
If you are going to spend two hours of your Saturday afternoon screwing the legs onto your new table - it might pay to check that you can fit it through the doorway, into the kitchen where it belongs. Just saying.

PS - mum had to get the ladder out so she could undo the french door locks in the lounge, and had to unbolt the doors in the kitchen, and then she got it into the right place.

My Garden Buddy

I have a night friend in the garden - Mr Hedgehoggy. Mum didn't realise til she did her housesitting job over the summer, how noisy hedgehogs were. All the ones she had seen before must have been of the quiet variety, and in the summer she got to meet one with sinus problems who lived below her bedroom window.
Our one is swifty and runs around the garden at night, and I do chase him but don't get too close. I think me and him will have a little truce and let each other live in peace.
By the way - we had another little earthquake at 2amish this morning, no damage done anywhere but the earth is sure rattling peoples nerves.
Have a nice weekend everybuddy.

Guess What I Used Tonight?

Yes kiddies, tonight mum let me out the front door when she got home at late oclock, and before she had a chance to open the back door, I runned in the cat door and meowed at her in the lounge.

I am truly awesome - it has only taken me a month.

Last Night

Did you know that Christchurch had a big earthquake in Sept last year? Since then, they have had over 5,000 - amazing.

Well last night Wellington had a little one, and just one, but it was enought to shake us. We can't imagine what our friends down south are feeling.

Mum is on shift next week, and her job will be to get us some more earthquake survival gear, water, a camp stove, fancy feasts, etc..........

Sleeps

I like my sleeps - I do. Often if mum leaves me in the morning to go to work, I am still in the same place when she gets home.
We are having quiet times at home. Today at work and around the country there was two minutes of silence for the earthquake victims. Funerals have began for some of the poor people who have died, including one yesterday for the youngest, a five month old baby. We are thinking of all of those killed and injured, and their friends and families. The police are now saying that they expect the final toll to be aprox 240 people.
