Get Ready

Hahaha mum laughed when she got this funny photo of me.  Last night was mums last late night at work for the week, she is glad that it is over.  Mum does leave me a big bowl of biscuits, but I still want my feast when she comes home, whatever the hour is.

So after getting to bed at 2am, I was nice to her and let her sleep in til 10:30am, when I gotted her up by telling her that I wanted more morning biscuits.  Mum then went to the library, got bananas, cucumbers, kumara, turnip, cabbage and tomatoes at the market, as well as some fresh fish fillets.

Our day is rainy and coolish, so I have been napping while mum gets the washing done, and will bake a caramel slice to take to her friends place for dinner.

Late

Mum had to work to early o'clock this morning, so I did not get my dinner til she gotted home at 11:30am.  Times are tough at chez Q,  I might have to even go on the street and beg for my supper.

PS don't worry about me being on the street.  I stay away from the moving cars and anybuddy that would steal me.

Wordless Wednesday

Middle Aged Brain

About six months ago, mum broke her vege peeler.  So when she went to the shops she bought two of them,   using one, and putting the other one in the drawer.  Well two weeks ago she accidently threw out the red one she was using, and then could not find the spare.  Mum hates having a middle aged brain.

So last weekend, when she went to the shops she bought five!!  Now she knows they should at least last a year.  Since they are only a dollar each, it didn't break the budget.

In & Out

Mum got a late start today, so I have been showing her my skills of going in and out the cat door this morning.  Mum and I got a wee sleep in, then mum went off for a little walk in the fresh airs.  She says it is always good to get some chores done before work, that way when it is finished she can put her feets up.

Snooze

The bed is made, mums book is ready and we hate to say that the electric blanket is on warming up the bed as it is chilly here.  Already for a Sunday night snooze.  Mum always finds it a bit harder to sleep on Sunday night, knowing that she can't sleep in in the morning, so a bit of book reading and a bit of a snuggle and then we can settle down for the night.  Mum has tried to not have any naps this week, as it is easy for her to get into the habit of sleeping for an hour or two in the early evening, and get into bad sleep patterns.

Mum still has Chicken pie leftovers for the week, but made some more lemon rissotto for dinner tonight.  Fresh strawberries for a supper treat, she says she has to enjoy them as the season is short here.

Caturday + The Biggest Weed Ever

 Hope you all have plans for a great Caturday.  Mum and I had a little sleep in, after I gotted her up for breakfast at 6.45am.  She was happy!   Mum went to the market, got lots of veg and fruit for the week. Washing got done, and mum went to town to buy a couple of things to play around with.  Then she came home and did a bit of gardening, and made a chicken pie and salad for dinner, and some watermelon for supper.

 Check out this spiky weed she pulled out of the garden!!  It had the biggest prickles on it , mum couldn't touch it at all, and had to use the shears to cut it and pull it out.

She put the dustpan beside it so you can see it is humungous!!!

Slim Pops

I wonders if you have noticed that I have been looking a bit slimmer lately?  Mum has had me on  Da Bird diet.  That means I can eat all of my usual foods, but I has to play with da bird for a while every day or every second day.  That way I jump and roll around, then need to fall over and sleep on the rug for a while.  Then I have to go to bed and sleep for another four hours to recover.  Mum thinks the diet is working though, as I am looking less chubbiesh.

We Have a Sad Today

Aww, we feels real sad today to hear about sweet Squashies.  RIP sweet girl, we are glad that you are no longer in pain, even though our hearts now hurt.  Smooches to your lovely family.

Thoughtful Tuesday

Top of the news here in New Zealand is the US election.  The whole world is talking about it, and we all are wondering what will happen.  It is an election of soo many issues, and we can understand why people are confused over who to vote for.

Me, I'm voting for the warm weather to come back.  Our heater has had to be on too much this week and it has been super chilly at night.  So cold I even crawled back between my mums knees last night and pinned her to her side of the bed.

Fort Monday

Check me out in my fort. I'm hiding out this Monday as it is Guy Fawkes (Fireworks) night.  I know, I should be inside, and in fact I am actually sitting on my mums bed trying to keep warm as it is grey and chilly again here.

Mum is busy making some beefy ragu to make a big lasagne for the rest of the weeks dinners. Then she is going to chop up a fresh pineapple and divide it up for work lunches.  She got me some fancy feasts, as I don't do the people food.

Hope the beginning of your weeks is going well.  Is it bad to say we are hanging out til Friday?

Kitchenitis

This was our kitchen last week, when we had to get the oven fixed.  Mum was trying to cook some chops one night, she kept checking them and then figured out that the oven wasn't working, as the chops were still raw after an hour.  Mr Electrician had to replace the element, as it had corroded through.

Mum had lost a lot of her kitchen mojo for a while.  She didn't feel like cooking and was doing easy things for dinner, like beans on toast or just some icecream or yogurt.  Since having the oven fixed, mum has felt a little more like doing stuff in the kitchen.  She made lemon rissotto for dinner last nigh and cooked a caramel and choc slice.  She did start of some no knead bread, but the yeast was old, so that went in the bin.  Tonight she made corn fritters with a big salad for dinner is going to make some carrot and corriander soup for the weeks lunches.

Mum thinks the kitchenitis is over finally - we'll have to wait and see.

Caturday

It is a rainy day here in the land of Q.  Mums plan of getting up early to go to the market went out the window.  She snoozed with me until 9am instead.  She went off with a bestie for a touch of cafe lunching and craft market browsing.

Then she went off to the other market where she stood hypnotized by the Orla Kiely cake tins - ohh laa laa.  So it is 4pm and us girls are ready for a snooze.  Then mum has plans to eat lemon  rissotto on the couch and watch the Antiques Roadshow  and Downton Abbey.  We call that a great Caturday plan.

Couch Curl Up

I don't normally sleep on this couch.  Last night mum had some visitors, so I runned outside and hid under the house.  When the visitors left, I came out and sniffed the couch and sat here, cos mums friend left his nice smells on the cushion.   When mum got home, I was curled up here, and I have gone back to bed here.  Mum is enjoying having my company, as she normally misses me as I am usually curled up in a bedroom, while she is in the lounge.

Herrow November

Herrow November - you arrived quickly and it looks like it is going to be a fun month.  Look - it started with  my  da bird toy and bubble wrap.   Awesome!

Sunbeams

The sunbeams have finally come back.  On the day mum had to go back to work of course.  Still we can't complain, as she has been watching the news and that superstorm looks scary.  We hope everybuddy is safe in their houses.

Weeds

What an exciting mumsday we had.  I helped her pull out weeds and tidy up  the garden a bit.  Now she has two chickens in the oven!!  They were cheaper than buying one, so mum put them both in the hot box and will cook up some cabbage and broccoli as well.  That way, she will have lots of veg and chicken for all week, and chicken bones to make some stock.  The sad thing is - I don't eat the peoples food, so no chicken for me!!

We hope all of our friends are safe if they are waiting for the stormageddon to arrive in the States.  We hope all of you and your families are safe and sound.

Mum wonders who might have left those prints in the shower tray?  In fact she is just relieved that they were left in the shower and not all over the quilts.

Caturday

It is the end of Caturday here in NZ.  It has been another quiet one at chez Q.  Mum and I had a little sleep in, then I had to hide outside while the electrician came round to fix our stove.  Mum went and gotted a big lot of fruit and vegetables.  Then she didn't eat any of them, as she went out for tasty dinner with her friends.

Happy Birthday Mum

Today was my mums birthday.  She got very spoilt with lots of lovely presents and we had a relaxing day together.  She gets to go out for dinner on Saturday night, and tonight she scoffed lots of yummy food for dinner tonight.  Me - I got some bubble wrap and temptations. So we are all happy!!

Grumpity

I am a bit grumpity today.  Mum chased me with the zoom groom and pinned me down to brush my furs.  She really wanted to do my trouser pants - but I'm not having that.

Seasonal

 This morning, it was sunshine out on the deck.

By this afternoon, we needed the heater on, and mum had to pull the jumper out and put it on to keep warm.

It is a public holiday here in NZ - our Labour Day or as it is usually known, big garden clean out holiday or take your caravan to the beach holiday.  Our day was spent relaxing and having a big sleep in.

Sleepy Sunday

Today was a good day for snoozing.  Mum went out to visit friends for a lovely beachside lunch at their house.  It was good for her to get out, more time for me to sleep.  Then she came home and we had a four hours nap!!!  Now we are taking it easy, preparing for a big night of sleeps.

Caturday Chillin

We is just chillin this Caturday at Chez Q.  Mum got up at usual work time, so that she could go to the local fruit and veg market, then come home, then go out again to the hairdresser.  After parting with way too many dollars, she just had to do window shopping before coming home with me.

It was a windy old afternoon, and after a bit of gardening she has been mooching inside.  A bit of washing, a bit of tidying up, a nice dinner of salmon steak and coleslaw and a bit of tv, she is just about ready for bed.  She has resisted having a nana nap with me on the bed, as she is trying to get some better sleep patterns.

She says though that some strawberries might be needed for supper before she heads to bed.  Bluh - I'm going to stick to temptations.

T.G.I.F mum says it has been a long long week at work, and even though she was busy, she was also watching the clock, cos now she has some days off to treat herself and spend some time with me.  Hope you all have some nice plans for Friday night and the weekend.

Terrific Tuesday

Mum said today was a glorious day with some sunshines, and she took a walk after work to suck in some Vitamin D.  Then we had a play outside on the deck again, she says I am getting important core exercises, chasing that pesky bird toy.

Can you see our backyard?  The grass died off over the winter, and lots of clover and moss grew.  The gardner came and spread some weed killer, and killed off the creeper on the shed, and it didn't seem to kill the clover.  The grass seed got planted last week, but we think most of it got swept away in the rain.  Maybe we need to get some ready lawn brought in?  Mums not sure, as she doesn't really have a green thumb, finger or toe.

Present Time

 This was my bestest present ever.  I got Da Bird, and I loves it.  You can play outdoors.......

 and indoors with it.  What a great time.  Of course most of your pictures actually look this........

And I gotted some chicken greenies, and mum let me have a greenie trail in the hallway.  Being six is the best!  Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

It is my birthday, happy birthday to me!!!  Mum gave me lots of  kisses and kept singing to me - yuck!!!  I got presents too, and I will show them to you tomorrow!!

Caturday

It is Caturday here in NZ, and boy has it been a stormy spring day.  So much so, that every time mum thought about leaving the rain poured down.  So I made her stay home and snuggle with me.  This is me this morning, running towards her in the lounge.

She did get three loads of washing done, a bit of tidying up, the dishes done and the kitchen cleaned - ohh and some weeds pulled out even though she got wet doing it.

Thursday Thanks

Thanks for saying sweet things about my itty bitty kitty photo yesterday.  Mum got sent two pictures, one of me and one of my sister.  Mum thinks that is my one.  It is hard to tell.

Somebuddy asked about my blue kitten eyes.  All British Shorthairs are born with blue eyes, but they should turn into big and amber like mine after a time.

Hope you are all getting some relaxing done like me.  I am just practising for my weekend.
