Monday

Monday has rolled around again, and there is certainly an autumn chill in the air, which is a shame as it is only February, and we were just enjoying our summer.  Hopefully this Southerly blast will blow over quickly, and as  you can see by our backyard we are in the need of some rain.  Certainly the farmers need it, so we must not complain.

Mum is a bit annoyed, as either the weather has interfered with our television, making it hard to view, or the painters when they were on the roof have moved it round.  So it will have to cost mum to get the man to come out with his special machine so he can take proper readings.  Of course mum will have to ring the landlord to sort it out, but she may have to wait for a sunny day just to be sure.

She was proud of herself as she made a big chicken and vegetable stirfry tonight with rice, so has enough for the next two days dinners made and plenty of feasts available for me.  So tomorrow night she does not have to rush home via the supermarket, but can come home and relax.

Hope you are all relaxing tonight too!!

Super Sunday

Mum wishes that every weekend could be a 3 day weekend.  Again she was lucky to have a little bed buddy for a while last night - me of course!!  She got to sleep in and read her book in bed.  Although it was a windy day, the sun shone enough for mum to get out for an afternoon walk.  She did a fair bit of window shopping, and ran into some friends which was nice.  She treated herself to a nice salad for lunch and decided that with the long weekend sales, she would buy a new tv.

So we now have a big screen in the living room, and Gdad will take our old tv to see if he can use it at his house, or he will see if someone could make use of it.  So there will be  a bit of a tight budget for the next few months, as mum tries to tighten the purse strings.

Phone calls to family were made and a simple dinner of beans on toast for mum, and a feast for me.

A big of watching on our big screen and off to bed soon.

Hope you all had a super Sunday too.

Caturday Cuddles

Well the temperature did drop overnight and mums prediction came true.  As soon as she jumped into bed she heard my little kitty footsteps come running up the hall and beg to go under the covers.  I stayed there too for a couple of hours, before the kicking and rolling began and I deserted mum to head back to the couch to sleep.

As you can see from the photo above, I have also ventured onto her knee for  a warm up cuddle, something that has been missing over the summer.

Mum had a lovely day today.  She headed out with a bestie to the fair in Martinborough where she bought a few little treats.  The skies were dark and the rain was beginning to spit as they arrived, but magically cleared up and made it quite a pleasant day out.  So a quiet night tonight home with me and  a chance for mum to put her feet up and watch a movie on the tele. Bliss.

Hope you all got to enjoy your Caturday and had some fun!!

Lovely Day

Today is Waitangi Day in little New Zealand, a public holiday for us.  However, it is often a day that is used by may to protest and it seems to mum that it should be about celebrating our wonderful country and lovely people.  So after some overnight rain and a rather cool morning, the sun broke out at lunchtime and mum went and joined her lovely friends at their beachside home.  She got to visit their young kittens, who have grown much bigger, whisper to the chickens and they dined outside in the late summer evening.

Mum then was able to come home this evening to feed me my feast and get the washing in.  There is a chill in the air and mum has put another quilt on the bed, and turned the electric blanket on.  She would not be surprised if I joined her tonight to keep warm.

Hope you have all had a great Friday too!!

Sleepier

Wow mum had a doozy of a night on call last night.  Three call ins between 11pm and 5am with at the most just getting home, then getting called back into work after ten minutes.  She finally dropped off to sleep at 6am only to be woken by the work phone at 7am, and it was a wrong number.  So mum got very little sleep.

She only had to work for a few hours this afternoon and went for a walk after work, popped into the library and the supermarket and the joined me on the couch.  She keeps thinking that she should move this box/apartment but I am enjoying it.

Luckily for her there is a three day weekend, and a cosy bed to climb into tonight!!  Sweet dreams everyone.

Shift Night Sleeps

Tonight mum was on the shift work again, so she dug out this old cute photo of me relaxing about five summers ago.  After days of rain, it was hot and sunny today, and best of all the painters came and took half the scaffolding away - yippee!!

So after a 10:30 pm finish, mum wizzed off to the supermarket to buy some yummy buns for her lunch tomorrow and now will watch some reality tv to relax.  She has to be back at work at 7.30am, and she always gets up 2 hours before a shift, so there won't be much sleeping tonight.  Then she has to do on call tomorrow night.  Luckily Friday is a holiday here, so she has three days to catch up.  Also lucky being a lady of a certain age, that she doesn't need too much sleep anymore.

Me - I need plenty.

Rain

So yesterday was  grey and drizzly, but this morning bought some real rain over the house.  Great for the gardens, as our little country is getting a bit crispy and brown this summer.  Not so great for all the kids who were returning to school this week.  For mum though, on shift again, it meant she did not feel guilty staying in her dressing gown and eating easter buns for lunch (with a banana to get some fruit).  She was watching The Crimson Field which she recorded a few weeks ago.  I was hogging half the couch, but let mum squish in beside me.

Sleeps

We have had a lazy old day here with lots of sleeps in which was nice.  Mum then watched a bit of tele, read her book and the interwebs.  I snoozed inside and outside.  Mum said she got up to the bathroom in the middle of the night (thank you almost menopausal bladder) and found me asleep on the bathmat in the bathroom.  A new little snoozy spot.

Hope you got lots of sleeps today.

Ohh and hello to February!!!

Caturday

Hi Cool Cats  - have you had a fun Caturday?

We took it easy and had a leisurely morning.  Mum did a few jobs round the place, a bit of laundry and tidying up.  I ate some biscuits and did a bit more napping.  Mum took herself out for a walk around the town, and then she went and saw the Imitation Game - a great movie she would recommend to all.  Then she went grocery shopping for a Chicken, and it was chicken with potatoes and green beans for her dinner and a feast for mine.

Hope you all did something fun!!!

TGIF

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh mum loves this photo of me.  Amazing how a little bit of movement and blurriness still capture how I am feeling.  I am feeling like that camera should just leave me alone!!!

Anyways us girls are pleased that Friday is upon us and the weekend has begun.  Mum is dog tired.  She worked late last night and was up early this morning, so she is sure she only closed her eyes for a couple of hours.  So her lids are drooping tonight  just like mine.

Hope you are all ready for your weekend.  Have you got some fun things planned?

Thankful Thursday

Mum is very thankful for the long sunny days which she has got to enjoy as she is on afternoon shifts this week.  This also means the builder/painters have been able to work swiftly all day and are on track, so maybe only another ten days to go or so.  She also likes that my stress levels have been lowered a bit and I am inside when she gets home from work.  The hot summer nights mean we now sleep in separate rooms, her in her bed and I have claimed the couch.  Life is good!

MIA

We haven't seen our little hedgehogs since the builders came.  There is a lot of their junk in the backyard and we hope our little pals are ok.  Luckily their little tummies were all filled up last week and we are still popping some food out in the garden for them.

Painter Smells

So the painters have arrived with their piles of paint to do the outside of our house.  Mum had forgotten how strong the fumes are, how intense it reeks into the house itself and she hopes that we will manage to sleep tonight.  Especially as she has to work an evening shift and the house will be closed up til she gets home.

Nice of some of the painter team to arrive at 6.30am to pick up some gear and wake mum up quickly as she heard voices outside.  So now she is tired and wishes she could nap, but won't as she needs to get ready for work.  So tomorrow she expects she will be tired and cranky.

What a start to our week!!

Sunday Sleepy Kitten Cuteness

Yes, that is little me, all cute and sleepy.  Now I am a big girlcat and curled up next to mum as she is doing stuff on the computer.

Our day was lovely - no painters came although a couple of guys turned up to clear out some rubbish which was good.  Mum went out as the sun was beautiful and went for a walk by the beach.  She has been having some bad hip pain since Friday, but after some Ibuprofen a bit of exercise seemed to help loosen her up.  She bought a couple of candles and some facecloths, all exciting stuff.

Off to the supermarket for some chicken, which she shared a bit with me as about once a month I will beg mum for some of her raw chicken.  I only eat two or three tiny pieces.  Mum made a spicy chilli chicken with peppers, which she served in a wrap with lots of greens and salad.  The good thing there is enough for the next two dinners.  Mum loves doing that.

Then some time on the couch for  a few family phone calls and bam - the weekend is almost over!!!  Hope you have all had fun and are relaxing now.

Chaotic Caturday

It has been a chaotic Caturday here.  There were at least six men here hammering and making noises as they stripped the paint from this place.  Mum lasted til 10:30 am and then she had to leave, while I retreated to under the bed.  It was a lovely sunny day so mum took off into town for a big long walk and a couple of visits to the library, then another walk, lunch by the waterfront, another walk and then back to the library to sit and read a book/nod off then another walk and off to meet a bestie for an early dinner, then a twenty minute walk home to feed me my feast.

Hope you enjoyed your Caturday today!!

Settled

Mum says that I have been more settled the last two days, not as freaked out by the noisy builders.  We never knew that house painting was so crazy, we had forgotten about all the sanding and hammering that needs to be done first.

Mum was also super pleased that work was over for the week, and that she got the chance to get home and put her feet up.  Dinner was a simple steak and potato salad, and some fresh apricots for pudding for her and I had my fancy feast.  Yum!!!

Hope you are all looking forward to the weekend ahead!!

Quiet

Last night when mum got home it was very quiet.  This is the front of her room, where the painting and building is being done.  She looked all round the inside of the house, and was out in the garden calling and calling me.  Normally I run to greet her when she gets home, but as the painters are noisy, I have been hiding.
She went down the stairs in the front of our little place, as I normally hide out there.  At 7pm - two hours after she got home, mum went up the stairs and called and called and finally I answered.  I had found myself stuck over the stairs at the house opposite us, this little villa you can see through the window.  Mum was so pleased to see me, and I snuggled with her all night.

Tonight when she got home I was in my usual spot on her bed, so mum was pleased.

Because I am an inside/outside cat I have my own little hidey holes outside, but I am a good girl and always come home and stay inside 90% of the time close by my mum.  Mum did consider putting me in the cattery, but I am always a bit miserable when that happens.  The other choice was to lock me in mums bedroom with a litter box, but it is real noisy in the house and hot too, so mum is not sure that I would like that either.

So - she will consider how I cope on today and Monday and make a decision at the beginning of next week.

She is glad that I came home.
