Neighbour

Just down the road mum spied one of the neighbour cats watching out for introoders.  It's a full time job people - no wonder we are tired.

Tired

So mum got a busy on -call night last night.  She worked 11.30pm - 3.30am and then got home for an hour before heading back in at 4.30am until just before 7am.  She then does get the day off work, and always thinks that she will get busy, but it only takes 5 minutes of sitting down to want to go and lie down.  So she got a good couple of hours napping before she got up to enjoy the sunshine for the afternoon.  Washing and dishes were done which was good and mum got to spend the afternoon sitting reading her book in the sun.  Our weather has been a bit odd at the moment.  Cloudy in the morning, clearing in the afternoon for a couple of hours and then cloudy and drizzly from about 6pm until the morning again.

Fingers crossed she can get some sleeps again tonight.  I am exhausted - I was busy waiting for mum to get home all night.  It is hard work being a good guard cat.

Waiting

I am waiting for my dinner yet again.  Last night when I curled up in the bed mum leaned over and touched me, and I shrieked and jumped off the bed and ran off.  This morning I jumped up on the bed and wanted a long snuggle, even letting mum pat me for more than 5 minutes.   She still got up and went to work though.

Pink

It was nice if you to all mention the plush blanket on my little chair.  It is in fact a towel because I love towels the best.  Also because it matches my furs it looks a bit tidier when I am in a cleaning frenzy and the fur is flying.  It also contrasts nicely with the only part of me that is pink - my tongue.

Friday Night Smiles

Mum found this amazing artist Lindsey Thomas from the UK who has made this needle felted super duper likeness of me - cheeky!!! Actually she must have had her own model.    Mum asked if she could put the photos on the blog for you all to see.   Mum can't afford to buy this amazing sculpture, but she liked that Lindsey had some awesome cards that you can purchase on ETSY (see the link above with her name),  to make your friends smile!!

Thanks Lindsey for letting us show your pictures.

Clean

Mum whizzed around this morning and put some towels out to wash and did a big pile of dishes.  She went and got lots of fruit and vegetables at the supermarket.  It is time for the nectarines, peaches and apricots which mum is enjoying.

Me I caught the one sunbeam and my own cleaning up session.

Sunshine

Mum got some sleep last night and no cramps which was good.  She did have a headache again and when she was getting ready to head out she tripped over and fell heavily against the doorway.  When she got herself up she knew she was ok, just a bit bruised and needed to lie down for 20 minutes.  She is just a bit sore from her shoulder down to her side.

So she changed her plans for the afternoon and stayed home and relaxed with me and read her book.  Being tired has taken a toll on mum this week but she has some time to relax this week.  I'll help her out too.

Snoozers

Night shift was officially over at 06.30am this morning.  Mum was tempted to stop and get a sausage and egg mcmuffin but was a bit tired, so got home and ate some crackers and crawled into bed by 7am.  She got some sleep, but was up every 20 minutes with bad leg cramps, another sure sign that she is turning into her own mother.  Mum dragged herself out onto the couch and had toast for tea.  Life should return to normal routines tomorrow.  I am glad she is back home with me now.

Caturday

Mum tried to sleep but only managed a 3 hr sleep in the morning and a 2 hour nap in the afternoon so she is a bit tired for tonight's shift.  I was a good girl and let her rest without trying to wake her up.

Waiting

Mum says it is the worst feeling waiting to go to work a nightshift on the first night.  Her body is saying "get ready for bed" yet she has to put her uniform on.  She has kept herself busy today so will hopefully sleep well tomorrow.

Chill

We haven't had the best summer.  It is 12 degrees here tonight and mum has heaters on.  Normally she would be in shorts with the fan on.  Still we have little to complain about.  The skies had pretty ombre colors tonight.

I had a feast for dinner tonight.  Mum made herself a big pasta dish to eat with enough for the next couple of evenings at work.  She is going to heat up her first Hot Cross Buns of the year for her supper.  The minute Christmas is over the supermarkets rush to get the buns out.

Still

We have been just hanging around being quiet the past couple of days.  Mum twinged her knee when she got off the bus and it has been a bit sore.  I helped by patrolling the garden and having some sleeps.

Caturday

Mum and I had a nice Caturday.  A lie in together.  3 loads of washing on the line, dishes done and the carpet hoovered.  Mum took herself off to see 1917 at the movies.  A solid 5/5 for the movie.  Chicken tacos again for mum for tea and beef and liver fancy feast for me.

Then time on the couch to relax.  I'm still loving the little chair and mum is enjoying my company in the evenings.  She thinks I spent all night out here last night so mum was a bit lonely.

Help

Mum has found it hard to watch the bushfires in Australia this week.  It has broken her heart to think of all the people and animals of this wonderful country who have suffered so much.  It almost feels too overwhelming to watch the news, and the fires still are continuing in may states.  So mum might give herself a little break from news this weekend - so much of it is distressing and sad.  Has it always been this bad?  Mum wonders if she has just become more sensitive over the years.  There is so much to worry about, the state of the world, fires, wars and the royal family breaking apart.

Mum went out tonight with her besties for a birthday dinner, but rather than spend money at the weekend she is going to try not to  spend too much money and   make a donation to help out the Australians.  She read this article about an Adelaide school turned into a Koala Hospital, where veterinarians and volunteers are helping to treat Koalas who have suffered in the fires, and once well release them back into the bush in unaffected areas.  They have a go fund me page where you can donate to help them assist these beautiful creatures.  If you are wondering how you could help, this would be a place to start.

Mum has also helped this week by donating to the Australian Red Cross and to the Australian Wildlife Rescue Fund.   She was not able to give much but every small donation helps add up.  For the price of a coffee and a piece of cake it might be enough to help provide some help to our Aussie neighbors.
