Weekend Warrior

I know I am lucky that I gets to go outside any time I want.  Here in New Zealand, most cats get to wander around our properties and the neighbourhood.  Mum did see a poor cat though, last weekend that had been hit by a car.  Somebody had wrapped it in a towel and left it at the side of the road.  So we know it is risky, but it is a good life.  I love to come out and roll around on the footpath and sniff the smells on my new lampost.  I get to chew on outside grass and chase the critters and best friend lives two houses down, and we get together in the morning and play.

Weekend

This morning, mum found me out by the gate.  Can you see me?  Look closely.  Want to see where I went to on my Saturday morning?  Pop on by tomorrow, and we will show you where I went explorin.

American Dollars

Cos the American dollar is doing crazy things, it has made internet shopping a bit cheaper down hear in old NZ.  So mum bought some of these Groundhog shoes, in brown last week.  They only took 3 days to get here, and as you can see - I loves them.

Hanging Out

When the heater is on, I just like to hang out and keep warm on the rug.  The sun has returned for a little while today, and it is now warmer outside than in the house.

Wordless Wednesday - Blurry Rush

3 Bar Night

Last night was nippy, so we had all three bars on the heater.  It was recorded as the coldest night of the year here in Wellington, and in some places in NZ it was the coldest recorded night in 90 years!!  However the snow clouds blew away overnight and we woke to a frosty morning, and a sunny winters day.  I have been giving mum lots of cuddles in the evening to keep her warm, and she has been filling her tum with homemade soups. 

We  sure admire our friends who spend all their winters buried in snow.  We don't know how you do it.  Of course you probably don't live in hundred year old wood houses like ours.  Places in NZ don't usually have any central heating but we are lucky as our house is reasonably insulated.  Oh, and we have a big warm cosy bed to share at night.

The Big Chill

That is what they are calling it on the news - The Big Chill.  Christchurch has snow right down to sea level, with snow on the beaches and the most snow the country has seen in twenty years.  On the news, some said it was the most snow in their area in the past eighty years.   Snow is only on the high hills here in Wellington, and we have just below freezing temperatures. 

We know many of our fine friends live in areas where you are buried in snow - for weeks on end during the winter.  Wow - we don't know how you do it.  We like our normally warm temperate climate.  Still we are lucky, as we have two good heaters to keep us cosy and warm. 

South Pole

Mum took some pictures of me during the week when we had a taste of sunshine.  Today we had a taste of Antarctic air, drifting up from the South pole and giving us some chilly weekend weather.  But that is ok, we have lots of supplies at home and the heater is on full.  Mum has lots of books to read, so we are taking it easy.

Not Moving

Well, I'm only moving from the couch to the bed, cos it's soo cold.  I'm hanging out in the houses hot spots.  Oh and hiding from the visiting sticky peoples.

Winter

We are reading lots of our friends blogs, and lots of you are super hot at the moment.  We are going to blow you some of our cool winds.  We would LOVE a warm evening, and know they won't be far away.

New Job

I have been promoted - I have a new job as the rubbish inspector.  I have to check the garden pile to see if there is anybuddy living in there.  Mum laughed as she thinks this will give me good tummy stretches doing this job.

Wordless Wednesday

Posh

We made it sound posh, saying we have a gardener.  It sounds like we have staff, a butler and housekeeper and maid.  Downton Abbey it ain't.  Our landlord just pays a man to pop around every six weeks and keep the gardens trimmed and tidy.   Mum does all the rest.  Me - I'm security (I run and hide when anybuddy comes to the house).

Explorin

While mum was working the weekend, I went outside and did some explorin.  Our grass has got a bit patchy and boggy cos of the winter, but the gardener came last week, so it looks all tidy.  He comes every six weeks to tidy things up, and it always looks nice after he has been.

Mum has to do call again tonight, as one of her colleagues is sick, so she hopes tonight is ok.

Flowery Friday

This photo is old, but we didn't think we had posted it before.  We needed the reminder of what warm was like.  We had blue skies here today, but it was chilly if you stepped away from the sun, into the shade.

Mum has to work all weekend, so we won't post til Monday, so have a lovely weekend all my fabulous friends.

This Lady Gaga hat for dogs or ... cats made us laugh.  You can buy it on ETSY, and we think that it would be perfect to buy and put away for that special night out.

Don't Mess With Your Kitty

My friend Mr Puddy wants a story about how you shouldn't mess with your kitty.  This one is an oldie but a goodie.  Years ago when mum had her cat Puss, mum bought a new bed, duvet, quilt and sheets for the visitors arriving the next day.  Mum spent HOURS, putting the bed together, and as soon as she made it and went to sit down and have a break.  Puss then climbed up on the middle of the made bed, and puked up all the chicken necks she had nibbled on that evening, soaking into all the new bedding.  Nice!!

Purring for Jack

On Monday we are thinking of our sweet friend Jack at   Lisa Lisa and the Cat Jam .  Jack and his sister Baby were adopted by their mum together a few years ago, and have got to live their senior years in comfort and a life full of love.  Jack has been sick lately but been oh so brave, but the calling to the bridge is strong and we think that he might be ready to join our friends there soon.  We are purring for you all sweet friends.

Quiets

After all of mums goings out this weekend, she thought it was prudent to not spend a cent today and to stay at home with me.  We caught a little bits of sunshine, and mum and I were lazy, having a sleep in and a couple of naps today.  Just taking it easy on Sleepy Sunday.

Again!!!

Mum went out again tonight!!!  She went to Peter Jacksons new movie theatre in Miramar, Wellington, The Roxy, which is done up as an amazing art deco cinema with funky barstaff.   Her and a friend had amazing Thai soups for dinner, and then went and watched Bridesmaids - funny stuff.

I just rolled around on her bed and rowwwed at her when she got home at late oclock.

What Time Do You Call This?

Mum didn't get in tonight til 9pm.  She went out after work, which she seldom does on a Friday.  After a long week of small talk at work, she usually looks forward to a night on the couch.  She did enjoy though going into town, she did a touch of shopping, and met one of her besties for a movie.  Then they went to a restaurant, and as it was busy and there were no tables, they sat at the bar and had a tasty lot of chicken satatys and vietnamese rolls, with a coctail.  Then they went and had gelatos.  Now she is glad that she went out - it was a nice night.

Now she is home with me and getting the washing done, giving me my fancy feast and looking forward to a weekend together.

Fave

Because it is winter most of mums winter wardrobe is black and grey.  This is her winter duvet, which almost matches my furs, and which I love to roll around on.  In fact, I am lying on it right now, while my secretary types out my notes in the living room.  Hope you all have some lovely linens to roll around on too.

Snuggler

Mum moved some quilts around, so she has left me a little extra winter bed in her bedroom.  Another bonus of the winter, is that right now I am sitting on her knee, and have come to her every day for a cuddle.

July

In July, here in New Zealand where it is mid winter it is all about the sleeping.  I am just about permanently planted somewhere in the house, mum says it is hard to get pictures of me with my eyes open.  Mum is staying pretty close to home too, as it is perfect weather for a book or browsing blogs.  She is also enjoying her winter clothes, wrapping up in scarves and lots of layers.  Lots of soups and slow cooked meals too, with lots of winter veg, carrots, leeks, broccoli and sweet apples - yumm.  Me - I'll stick to the fancy feast thanks.

Hard Worker

My weekend jobs are done.  I have supervised the sheets going on the bed, so I am tuckered out now.  Mum made couscous with veges and chicken  for tea  on Friday, reheated the leftovers tonight for dinner, and is now cooking the leftover chicken for a stock.  So tomorrow before going to work, she will whip up another of her leek and potato soups to take for dinner.

It was a crisp morning, so mum put on her gloves and scarf and went for a walk along the beach. She had a little look at the shops and got some groceries before coming home to read her book and now watch David Attenborough, and is encouraged by his energy and enthuisiasm at twice mums age.

Weekending

Mum has just got home from her friends birthday dinner out in town.  She had bangers and mash (sausages and mashed potatoes).  The desert looked great, but mum was way too full and so she resisted.  Now she has come home to turn the heaters and electric blanket on, and get her a few pages of her book read before bed.  Because I have been hogging the bath mat, she has had to buy a new one, exactly the same - sucker!!

Good Day

Mum had her last night on call for the week last night, and got the best call in of them all.  A 4.50am call is the favorite one of the team, as it means that yo have had most of your nights sleep, and by the time the hospital work is done, it means you get a 9 hour break, and don't have to make it back in til almost the end of your work day.  The day team called, and they said that work wasn't too crazy, and so if mum took two hours annual leave, she had the whole day to potter around with me.

So we got to spend most of the day together, and when mum went to do some jobs she forgot to turn the heater off and so I have had a lovely warm toasty nap.  Mum got a chicken to cook for tea, so the house smells nice, the washing is done and most of the weekend chores are already done.
