Christmas Mantle

Today mum was out and about and found these lovely little red Christmas lights and two reindeer who decided to come and spend Christmas at our house.  So we changed up the mantle for a bit of festive cheer which made mum happy.

Today was also the annual fair day here in town, so mum and the besties met up for early brunch and then off to the fair.  As they rolled up, so did the rain.  Mum did feel sorry for the sales people as many had travelled from around the country and the rain made it very difficult for them.  Mum did buy a couple of little treats, but she was glad to get home and spend the afternoon reading on the bed with me (which means napping).

Sunday evenings are usually an easy dinner and ring the family to catch up on the weeks gossip.  Then a few chores before bed.  In fact it is 11pm, and mum has some dishes in the sink, a uniform in the wash and still is making the bed with me.  Luckily it is a late start in the morning for her, so no need to rush, she can get all the quick jobs done in 20 minutes.  So must go!!

  4. We love the sweet village and the deer...we also think a black tree is quite handy to have...double duty at Halloween!
Thank you for the kind comment you left on mommies birthday post...it really warmed her old heart deep down.
We think about you often down on that beautiful island and wish it would not be so very expensive to live there.
You are a treasured friend and we always like to see what you are up to down there in our reader.
Happy Sunday greetings from the cozy cottage

  5. Poppy, dear, this mantle scape inspires me to move my tiny tree from a precarious pedestal in the hall to the old console in the foyer, the one with the big shelf below where presents are parked. Yes, this year the tree and the reindeer and the jar of breakable ornaments will share a surface! (And they'll only need one string of lights and a plug.) Do wish I could find lights as pretty as your mum's.

  8. Mum took it easy to day too. Small bits of shopping. Lots of reading. No feetsball watching.

  11. We love the reindeer your mom bought. Your whole Chrissy-mouse village looks ready for Santa Claws to arrive soon. Our mom really likes the lights shaped like ornaments. She says she has never seen cute lights like yours. For a small house, your mom made the space very cheerful with her decorating.
Our mom baked cookies all afternoon. Some got baked & some dough went into the freezer to be baked closer to Chrissy-mouse for giving to friends & neighbors. We saw her eatin' some Snickerdoodles. Mom said she was just "taste testing" them. We say she ate 3 of them, so we say she was just plain ol' eating them. No cookies for us cats, but she says she's going to Petco because the Feast is on sale for 55 cents a can & needs to stock up for us. We will see if she makes good on that tomorrow. Hope you & your mom enjoy your sleep-in tomorrow morning Poppy.
It is too bad the Christmas Fair wasn't held under cover somewhere so people & their sale items didn't get soaked from the rain.
