So because all the young hipsters have vacated our city to spread their beardy joy to their families in the provinces, mum was able to finally buy the holy grail of trendy dining her in NZ. Yes - she finally was able to buy a bottle of Lewis Road Creamery Whittakers Chocolate Milk. You see months ago, this little boutique milk product company brought out this marriage of their milk and NZ produced chocolate. It was only available in a selected few shops around the country and was snapped up as soon as it arrived. It is the Elmo/Xbox/Iphone of flavoured milks you see. Our supermarket gets a few bottles a week, but they are often reserved or sold out straight away, but as the middle aged muster cruised past the shelves she managed to snap up two bottles.
What did she think? Well it was nice, but not out of this world I am going to die for it nice. But at least she might be able to show off in front of the twenty somethings at work, and be up with what the cool kids like.
Oh and this little fellow who assisted with the modeling? This is Milo the Ursabob. Our friend Pia in Sweden has got us addicted.
Oh and mum got to hand the on call phone back at work. She now has some days off to relax and has already finished her first book from the pile.

Ah, it's all about the hype for many, many things -- not the quality of the product! Is the bottle glass or plastic? If glass, definitely worth saving for a fresh floral sprig!
ReplyDeleteAs for Milo, he's a cutie. It's been a very long time since I've checked in with Pia's blog.
Savour the time off! (I still have this week; yay!)
Poppy, dear, it's good to see your mum is enjoying adventures in hunting and gathering -- and reading and snoozing! -- during her precious time off. Now be a good girl and place nicely with the little Swedish alien. Remember, if it has a name, it's impolite to eat it.
ReplyDeleteThat's how it usually is with cool things: they're really rather mediocre. It's all publicity and marketing.
ReplyDelete"Cool" things usually ride on their exclusivity or unavailability. Rarely their excellence. Cult product mentality.
ReplyDeleteMy human couldn't even drink something like that - she's lactose intolerant! Just like us kitties. MOL

ReplyDeleteHooray for yummy chocolate milk and finished books! :) Both of those things are very cool.
ReplyDelete"their beardy joy"...love that statement! Oh, dear you have yourself a Bobbaloo! They are soooo cute but due be careful as they like to live in large-ish groups. Trust me, I know, you start with one and the next thing you know your house is overrun with them! Good thing they are so small and love sleeping in baskets or a good shoe box. (grin)
ReplyDeleteHA, just hype! Milk is milk!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how the "in" things rarely live up to the hype? Silly beans, plain old milk is best, right Poppy!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time together mum and Poppy!

We have been seeing Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie Chocolate mile here in the states. Two of the grand sons said it is way too strong! So, our Mom will not be trying it!
ReplyDeleteYou are very witty!!! Oh and so very cool now that you have laid hand on the ultimate drink. I still haven't bothered and will take your word for it on taste. I have heard similar. Love Milo!!
