Happy Winter Solstice!!

It is the winter solstice here in the southern hemisphere.  The shortest day of the year was here, and although it was covered in cloud (we took this photo last week), the temperature was mild.  Mum was glad to have today off, but her sleeping is still out of wack.  I don't mind what time she makes it to bed though - I will snuggle up any time.

So mum dragged herself out of the house and took a walk, and now it is a quiet night at home.  We look forward to gaining some more daylight each day as we step back to summer.  Just some cold and wintry weeks to get through first.

  1. We had our longest day, yesterday Poppy!x
Day early as it's a leap year...Not that it
makes a lot of difference...Though this year
it coincided with a 'strawberry moon'. Happens
every 70yrs. Also the start of the strawberry
picking season...! HeHe! What ever! :).

  2. Even in winter, it doesn't get very cold down there, does it? Do you get snow often?

  3. Poppy, dear, this was our longest day of the year, and it was decorated with a beautiful full moon. All the cats stayed up with me to admire it!

  4. poppy Q.....N heer it bee summer time & we will bee mor N happee ta send ewe sum heet & sum day time lite coz we iz reddy for fall ...yea...all reddy...we iz reddy for fall !!! ☺☺☺♥♥♥

  5. We had our summer solstice so now our days will get shorter. Guess they are going to visit you!

    Enjoy your cuddles with mum.

  6. We had our longest day here, Poppy. Now we suppose those hours and minutes are on their way to you!

  7. Your poor Mum, the night shift is tough. And poor you having to be without her all night.

  8. We just had our Summer Solstice and enjoyed long hours of sun. But I had to start work very early so I went to bed at nine with daylight! But Holly liked having me to snuggle up to.

  9. Yeah, our days will get shorter, but mum is looking forward to a winter where she won't have to drive to work! Yep, retirement!
