Farewell Visit

Mum and I had a farewell visit to our vets this afternoon.  I've been going for the whole 14 years that I have been alive, and mum took her old girl Puss there before me.  They have been a part of the community for 50 years and will be sorely missed.  She took these photos so we have a reminder of our visits.  Can you find me in the shots?

I just needed a senior check today and my arthritis injection.  I was a good girl for the vet and told I was in good health for my age.  Mum thanked them for helping me, but truthfully she felt teary, she is no good at goodbyes as she has got older.

Do you want to know something sweet?  On the way there she put her finger in the carrier and I put my paw on her finger and held it there for the rest of the journey.

  1. Awww, Poppy....We're sorry your clinic has closed and hope you'll find another just as good, even though it won't be the same. We imagine you were in the PTU (carrier) in that last pic, we don't see anywhere else you'd be!

  2. Poppy my sweet, you brought tears to my eyes. You definitely understood how mum was feeling and showed her so. I’m sad too that your vet is closing. One assumes that when things are going well in your life it will always be so. Life is a little like a film and just around the next scene there can be a blip. Just as well we can’t see into the future. As Forest Gumps mother said ‘Life is like a box of chocolates. You ever know what you get until you open one “ I’m not too keen on surprises but I’m sure your next chocolate will be a really lovely vet. So thrilled you are in good health. ❤️

a very reliable new one. Was that your carrier on the entrance?

  6. Oh Poppy - when I read the last sentence I got a big lump in my throat & a tear in my eye. This old girl is no good at sad things or goodbyes anymore either 😉

  7. Poppy, dear, I sympathize with your mum. I've been going to the same vet for literally decades. Some of the vet techs were entertained by tales of when the accounts manager of the now multi-location practice was herself a techie. (Once upon a time she and I subdued a rogue feral attacking the vet by heaving a rug over it and pouncing.) She retired last year and I miss our "remember when" chats.
