Sundaying

We are almost finishing our Sundaying  while many if you are waiting  for it to begin.  Washing  was put outside, but it is hard to get it dry now and we are almost st the dry inside stage.  Mum hoovered- it has become a 3 time a week job with dust from the builders and painters  sneaking in through the doors and winters.  Has mum and I told you we will be pleased when they are finished?

Mum did an easy exercise program  today - she needs to get stretching and moving more and so is starting  gentle.  She is not as flexible  as she should be and needs to reduce the covid kilos.

 I begged for my dinner at 2.45pm, and mum is just giving  in now.  She figures that if I want it I can have it.  She's  only starting  hers at 6.30pm.  Lamb chops with baked sweet potatoes  and carrots  and broccoli.   Lots of veg for her.

Dark autumn  nights mean earlier  nights for me and mum.  I tucked  myself up onto my  quilt at 3pm.  Night night.

Sundaying

Mum has had a quiet weekend - no going out, no shopping, no visiting, no visitors.  Instead there is a clean uniform ready to be worn tomorrow, all the dishes are washed and drying, library books are ready to go back to the library, parcels packed up ready for the post office, shopping list ready for the supermarket, clothes put into a bag for the charity shop and warn out clothes thrown out.  She is worn out now - time to come and lie down with me and read her book.

Sundaying

Sunday night was always special for mum growing up.  Her mum made a nice meal and it was the only night dessert was on the menu.  Mum made a small roast of lamb with roasted veg and green beans.  So she is going to bed with a nice full tummy and some fun leftovers for tomorrow.

Me - well Sunday has been good to have mum around and lots of time for snoozing.

Sundaying

So it was a slow Sunday here at the house of Q.  Mum woke early but stayed in bed and read.  The clouds were gathering outside so mum decided a day at home would be nice.  She read and pottered and talked to me.

It was fathers day  here today and she thought about her dad and how much she missed him, and how lucky she was to have him so long.  We hope that if you have your dad's you got to talk with them or hug them tight.

Sundaying

After a week of rain it was nice to have blue skies today.  Mum stayed in bed way too long, and had to hurry to get out if the house at midday so that she could get to the market before it closed.  She bought lettuce, carrots, parsnip, swede, cabbage, pumpkin, bananas and kiwi fruit.

She took a walk in the sun for a while but her shopping bag was rather heavy.  She stopped off to get a loaf of bread and pick up a book from the library.  She took the bus home and got home in time to have a nap.

Mum had to get up to give me my feast and put on her own dinner.  She roasted some chicken drumsticks and pumpkin and cooked some spicy cabbage.  It was the most enjoyable dinner that mum has had in a while.  I have gone to bed and mum is watching a show about Turkey and then might watch the Antiques Roadshow.  She has a busy week ahead and us glad to have a relaxing day today.

Well it certainly wasn't a sunny day here in the big city.  As soon as mum left the house this morning it started raining, for the whole time she walked into town - still it wasn't cold and she did enjoy her stroll with her umbrella up.  She was tempted to stay home, but it was nice to meet a friend at a French bakery for some little treats.  The girls also wandered through a few local shops, and although there were a couple of things to tempt them, their wallets stayed in their bags.

Mum had bought some lamb shanks during the week, to try out a new recipe.  Her friend brought her some thyme and rosemary from her garden, so mum didn't have to buy those.  Although it was a bit of a fiddle, she got them in the oven by 3pm and had them ready for her dinner tonight.  Nice and tasty - but she thinks they might just be a yearly treat rather than doing them more regularly. 

I got to do some sleeping today.  I did wake mum up at 6am to let her know it was raining outside and that there were 10 biscuits left in my bowl.  Mum is dreading having to get up for 6am for real tomorrow morning.   She was desperate for a nap this afternoon, but has resisted so that hopefully she can sleep well tonight.  Wish her luck!!

Sundaying

It was a lively day and I was helping mum to enjoy her Sunday.  I came and sat on her at 7.10, 7.27, 7.55, 8.10, 8.23 until she got up to make her toast and I could take her spot on the bed.  The sun was lovely today and although I needed help to blog I told her to go out for a walk.

Mum went my into town and had a wander.  She didn't stay out too long and came home in time for a little Sunday afternoon nap.  Perfect.

It was meant to be a sunny day here in the Q city, but when we woke up it was cloudy and grey.  Mum still got herself up early to go to the market and get some steps done.  She has signed up to My Food Bag, which delivers food for dinner for 4 nights, and she is doing it fortnightly and will try it for a little while.

So this was tonight's dinner - Cajun fish tacos which were tasty and not something mum would have made for herself.   It also has enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunch.  It also is making her try some foods that she would not have necessarily tried by herself.

So now there are a pile of dishes for mum to do.  I am snoozing on our bed.  Mum resisted having a nap this afternoon and will try to go to bed early enough to get a good sleep.  That's her plan anyway.

Sunday has finally rolled round.  Mum finally drifted off to sleep around 2am.  She was not thrilled that I chose to tell her loudly at 6.30am that the biscuit bowl was empty and that it would be prudent for her to arise and refilled it immediately.   Of course I did not actually eat any and went back to bed cos I was tired.

Mum stayed in her bed as it was cold and read her book.  She then decided to head into the fruit and vegetables market where she stocked up on carrots, parsnips, broccoli, swede, coriander, limes, tomatoes and a cucumber.  Lots of vegetables for the week.

The restaurants were busy as families were out celebrating Father's day.   Mum thought a lot about her own dad and how much she misses him.

How are you my furriends?  Are you having a relaxing day?  Mum couldn't figure out why I came and sat on her twice this morning, then she checked her phone and it said the temperature was a cool 2 degree C.

She got up early and went out to the seaside to have lunch with some lovely friends.  She took no photos, so instead will leave you with this movie she took of me later night.  In case you don't talk cat - I am telling her to hurry up and make the bed. (Sorry we can't get the video to load and play.  They don't make it easy for middle aged mumsters).

Sundaying

Well mum was pleased that I was quiet last night and stayed asleep.There were some idiots letting off fireworks at 5:30am.  She hopes Karma pays those idiots back, and one day they will treasure their sleeps ins, but not be able to.  She got herself up at 5:40am to head out to work for the day.  Work was quickly over by 3pm and although she had the best of intentions to go for a walk in the fresh air, it was windy and spitting as she left work, so it was a trip to the supermarket and then home to get the dishes done, cook tea and sit on the couch and catch up on Game of Thrones episodes.  She is enjoying it although lots of this seasons scenes seemed to be filmed in the dark, and their seem to be way too many characters for this middle aged lady to follow.

Now mum has two days off work and doesn't have to venture back until Weds at 2:30pm which is nice.  She doesn't care if it is windy and rainy, she will enjoy her relaxing, and I think I will join her.
