Sleepy Sunday

It was a summery breezy day here, so mum succeeded in  getting a few loads of washing out on the washing line.  Although she loves getting them out in the fresh air, she is missing having a dryer.  The towels were so much softer, and she liked having her clothes washed and dried in the same evening.  She knows though that she is lucky having a washing machine at home and lots of sunshine at the moment.  She shouldn't moan.

Our friend Kim asked about Laundromats.  There are a couple in the city we think (but too far away from where we live), but everybody in NZ has their own washing machines at home.  We were a bit spoilt having a washing machine and dryer at our last house and mum got very used to it.  Our weather is quite mild here so it can dry outside on the line six months of the year, and have to be on a drying rack inside in the winter.

With the windows wide open I did a bit of snoozing around the house in various spots.  I do like mums bed at the moment, it is where I am snoozing as the secretary writes this post for me.  I had my dinner just after 6pm and went to bed at 6.20pm.  It is now 10:50pm and I am still in the same spot.

So the mumster is going to watch the end of the Walking Dead, then pop herself into bed to read for a while.  She doesn't have to go to work in the morning, so can have a late night with a bit of a sleep in.

We can feel the seasons beginning to slip and change lately.  It has been getting darker a bit earlier and mum has been pulling the slippers out more and more.  We know though that we will be due for more sunshine before the summer is truly over.

Enjoy your Sunday - hope you all had plenty of chances for a snooze or two.

  1. Poppy, are laundromats not common where you live, or perhaps too far away? Our human used one for years in this city, before getting the washer and dryer when she (and the ex) bought this townhouse. She actually misses being able to hang clothes up outside! But does agree that towels are nicer when from the dryer. :-)

  3. Oh, I don't think I would enjoy not having a washer and a drier. srsly. ack. All of our technology has us all a bit spoiled and suffering from Instant Gratification Syndrome, doesn't it? ;)

We are sick of winter and can not wait for spring! It keeps teasing us with a bit of warmth and then gets cold and rainy again. Me no likey.

    Have a lovely day, ladies!

  4. Poppy, you look so cute with your paws turned in. The lady understands your mom not wanting to go to a laundromat. She used to have to use one and it was less than a block away. Even then, it was a big inconvenience. Having a washer in the house is wonderful.

  5. Poppy you look so content all tucked in. I know what your mum means! Soft towels are nicer. Enjoy your Monday off together.

  6. It is a good thing we have a dryer here - my human forgets about washing and sometimes waits until the last minute and she'd have nothing to wear until the clothes dried outside! A couple of times when we've had dryer problems, she was really in trouble!

  7. You DO look very cozy there Miss Poppy. I have to say that Mum hangs up all her washing too. She even has a hand crank washing machine! Since about 90% of our electricity in this area comes from burning coal, Mum tries to use as little electricity as possible.

  8. Yes the seasons are changing, we are noticing the days getting longer. Still cold and snowy, but at least we have more daylight.

  9. Our lazy butt mum uses the dryer all the time because it, and a bit of fabric softener, makes the clothes a lot less wrinkled. Could your mum save up and get one of those neat moveable ones?

  10. Mum hangs her washing on a rack in our home. Washing machine and dryer are shared by all the people in the building so mum gets up early on Sunday to do her washing. She prefers to hang air dry the clothes. But my things- beds, blankets - are washed at the laundromat. Have a good snooze, Meow, Jessica

  11. I gave my dryer away as I never used it, it was way to expensive to use. I either hang them outside on the line, under the back porch or inside on the clothes horse. Our nights are getting cooler and I'm rather happy about that
