Tis rather cold and wet in our city tonight. So mum and I are taking it easy. A bag of maltesers and Australian Masterchef on the tele. Mum was so looking to her dinner tonight, but the steak was a bit tough and the mashed potatoes were dry. So disappointed, how does she get mashed potatoes wrong after all of these years? Still, she knows that she is lucky to be able to afford food on the table. First world problems i guess.
So it will be early to bed with her book and waiting for the rest of the weekend, so she can have some fun. I headed to bed about 7pm after my dinner. You see dinner takes about 13 hours to digest, so I will get up tomorrow morning ready to go!!!
Happy Friday everybuddy!!

Happy Friday, Poppy!
ReplyDeletePoppy!x Tell Mum, if she buys steak from the supermarket, to put it, on a plate, and leave it in the fridge for a couple of days to relax!
ReplyDeleteIf she buys it from a butcher, it should be o.k. As a good butcher will hang beef for at least three weeks!
Remember...There are three ways to cook
a steak...Rare..Medium..And, forget about it..Well done steaks are 'NO' good at all. Ruins the meat, taste, and texture..HeHe! So there!x
I hope this yucky weather goes away for the weekend!
ReplyDeletePoppy, dear, if both mum's steak and potatoes were dry, one suspects a distraction at work around her ankles. But I've not yet learned how to make mashed taters for one -- I just bake one or two "in the husk" then squash them with butter.
ReplyDeleteIt is disappointing to have dinner turn out poorly. Hopefully, the Maltesers made up for it somewhat. I like them, too.
ReplyDeleteYes, first world problems, but on the other hand, your mum did spend money for the food, so it IS a bit disappointing. Here's to yummier food for the rest of the weekend, and to warmer weather (for us too).
ReplyDeleteI am sorry your mum's dinner was disappointing Poppy. It is a good job that your Feast is always pleasing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could last 13 hours wifout foodz!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of will power if you go 13 hr. with no feast Poppy. I am a bit of a nibbler/snacker cat. I tend to eat quiet a few small meals, but then I am a 24 yr. old senior kitty and one's appetite does change as you age.
ReplyDeleteMy human does not like it when she envisions that she is cooking a tasty meal & then reality hits and it is a disappointment. Dry mashed potatoes can be easily fixed by adding a touch of milk or butter & nuke in the microwave on 50% power for a couple of mins. to reheat. Sadly, once a steak is done, there is not much you can change. I used to just season steak with salt & pepper, but a fiend taught me to sprinkle a little garlic powder on too and it really made the flavor wonderful.
Hope you have a nice evening with mom & that she has something fun planned for her weekend.
Mom bean knows all about making meals that don't turn out well...she's not much of a cook. Good thing for us kitties she knows how to use a can opener.
ReplyDeleteHope the weather gets better! Have a good weekend Poppy and mum.
