Winterising
This weekend I helped the mumster make the bed ready for the winter season - which was good as the temperatures have been dropping and mum has had to turn the bedroom heater and the heat pump on. Last night I clung to her like a limpet, keeping close and hanging on. So now on the bed, we have her duvet, two thin quilts and a big fleecy blanket. Nice and cosy is how we like it.
We have had a quiet night at home which was nice, and mum is trying to bulk out the dinner with lots more veg. A big serving of broccoli and some peas and corn with some italian sausage which she must say she enjoyed. There are more leftover veg for tomorrow night, with some Hoki fish. Then there will be steak and salad for Weds and Thurs night. Good on you mum - you can eat my share of greens too!!
Hope you are all having a lovely Monday too.

HeHe! Mum's going on about food again Poppy!x
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to feel peckish....And, it's only mid
morning over here!
Still everything looks all nice and clean, and fresh!
As you say...Nice and cosy!
Poppy, dear, your mum's menu reminds me of a favorite meal from my impoverished student days. I was visiting friends who raised their own veg. When supper time approached my hostess graciously inquired: "Would you like one or two broccoli?" Cheap sausage links could be cut up into infinite bits to flavor the veg. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteHere in Canada, we're doin' the opposite and gettin' ready for spring although it sure is a long time comin', this year.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
Though I am more and more enjoying the warm months, as age makes my body colder, I must say I do like the cosiness of a warm bed on a winter morning - as long as it's a morning I don't have to get up and go to work in the dark.
ReplyDeletebrrrr it was cold yesterday, we had both fires on. Looks like we need to change bed linen for winter too
ReplyDeletePoppy and mum: I bought this Clara Clark Mink Raschel blanket from Amazon.ca last fall (?) or maybe very early December, and it's the WARMEST blanket I have ever owned. My bedroom is over the garage, there's barely any insulation in the 30-year old walls, it's freezing in there all winter long, the seal around the windows is gone...you get the idea. Normally I have multiple blankets and two comforters piled on the bed, plus sleep in woolly socks and flannel jammies plus fleece sweater all winter. Well, I was toasty, often too toasty, with just this blanket and my one comforter and the sheet. I had to remove the second blanket I had on the bed, I was so hot. Not sure if it would be available to you on your own Amazon site, or if the price would be reasonable, but it's worth checking out. I gave it 5 stars out of 5. I have a double bed and this sucker is HEAVY, though.

And mum is putting away the last of the winter tops she wears to work. All laundered clean and put away. Rugs washed and dried outside for a wonderful fresh smell.
