Close to Home

I have been sticking close to home in our new house which makes mum happy although she does want me to be more confident with going outside, more because she doesn't want to have a litter box inside forever.  She would like me happy too, but knows that it will take some time.

Mum has her first night on call from our new house tonight so hopefully that goes smoothly.

She did go to the town supermarket after work, as it is only $2 to catch a bus home and a 10 minutes ride to get dropped off a 5 minutes stroll from home.  It was super sunny when mum got home too until 7.30pm which was nice as we used to lose the sun at 3pm at our old place.

Cheeky Neighbor

Last night I used my cat door twice and mum was pleased that I came back and slept with her.  Last night me and neighbor cat hissed at each other for a while.

This morning while mum was having breakfast she saw our friend peeking through the door.   Maybe they wanted to play?

Sunnyday

Our Day didn't start out sunny, there was a bit of a drizzle happening.  Luckily mum was up and dressed early as the landlord arrived to do some jobs upstairs and helped mum out with a quick garden tidy up.  He also bought mum these lovely gerbras which are her favorite.   We think it was kind of him to do that.

Mum did a whole lot of washing, a big pile of dishes and unpacked a few more things.  It was relaxing to stay home.  She kept the door open for me but I wasn't too curious  today.

She took a few photos too, so we have lots to show you during the week.   Hope you have all had a nice Sunday too.

Outside Caturday

Today I was very brave and went outsides by my self for the first time.  Mum got up early and took herself of to the hairdresser.   When she returned home her friends came to visit and to do emergency carpentry for her.  You see she had measured her cabinet and found a special spot outside the bathroom.   She forgot to measure the roof of it that was wider than the cabinet and it didn't fit.  So a powersaw was used and 5 minutes later it was squeezed into the perfect position.   So time for a little picnic in the sun.

Mum then mowed the lawn and unpacked the last box.  She carried me out for a look but I just ran back inside.  She then opened the door for me, and I bravely went outside for a look for about 2 minutes.   As she writes this I have been outside 3 times.  Mum thinks that is enough for the night and will close the door and we will try again tomorrow.

Settling

Mum thinks that I am beginning settle into our new house.  There are more people living upstairs at this house, but they seem quiet and have early nights.  There are flats next door and at the back if us but everyone seems quiet there too.  Mum has been on a couple of shifts, but I have waited for her to come home and give me my feast.  I have returned to wanting my morning cuddle too and mum let me have her towel to lie on.

Mum worked til 8pm tonight, then went to the supermarket and got some supplies.  She then walked up hill home, which although it is a bit of a hike uphill she survived and didn't  need a lie down when she got home.  So she was quite proud of herself.

Today

Today I showed an interest in going outside and was trying to open my cat door which mum had left locked.  So she is thinking that Saturday afternoon when she gets home she will let me venture out.

Mum has worked a couple of late shifts the past couple of nights and has enjoyed the new walk to work.  It takes about 25 minutes and is also all downhill.  She walked home last weekend so feels ok about that, and she could do with a bit more exercise.

Tuesday

I found mums work bag first her - it us a pity that she can't find her uniform yet.  Woops.

She unpacked three boxes and a big bag today.  An hour was spent on the phone to get the Internets sorted.  It was a bit frustrating as she had to speak to four different people and she now needs to wait for an engineer.

She got woken up at 5am by me talking through the window to the new neighbour cat.  I didn't do much today but did ask for some dinner at 8pm.  Mum has to go to work tomorrow so getting back into a routine might be good for both of us.

Hot

Today feels like it has been the hottest day of the year, so mum is trying to encourage me not to lie under the covers.   She has the bedroom window open but I am not interested.

She also had our new cat door installed this morning but I haven't noticed it yet.  She took her niece out today to get her some treats as she had done tremendous work helping mum move.

Mum had a moment saying goodbye, middle aged ladyness often makes her teary.  Today is also a year since gdad died, and tears had been building all day.

Meeting the Neighbors

We have been meeting the neighbors, although it was mum that saw him peeking through the windows.  I was under my duvet.

Mum got to meet our upstairs neighbour last night.  He said he loved cats and British Blues like me are his favorite, so we like him already.

The girls finished all the cleaning today and everything is moved but not unpacked yet.  So the girls relaxed for a while this afternoon then mum took miss Belle out for dinner which was yummy.   A walk to the supermarket and then they walked up the hill home which wasn't as bad as mum thought it would be.  Go mum!

Me - well I educated miss Belle in how much solids can come out of one cat, in the dirt box.  She was quite surprised.

Progress Caturday

So there was only one hour of howling last night, which was better than the two weeks last time we moved.  I slept with mum for a while last night and then moved to the other side of the bed.

Mum and Miss Belle had a great sleep as they were tired after a big day.  Today we went a car load to the cancer charity shop, another to the dump and did half the flat cleaning.  There are a few bags we need to bring into the house and unpacking still.

So I have been brave and came out to look out to my garden which looks good.  Mum says I can't go out yet but soon.  I have drunk my water, eaten my biscuits and used the dirt box.  So mum is pleased with me.

New House

What a day my friends.  Mums lovely niece arrived at midnight and the girls didn't get to bed til after one am.  They got up at 7am so not much sleep.   I was tucked up at the cat hotel.

The movers arrived dead on 08.30am, at the same time as it started raining.  The chaps were quick though, 1 hrs loading and 1 unloading which was awesome.   Mum and Miss Belle unpacked a bit the rest of the day.  They made the beds and set up the TV- the important things.

They then went to the supermarket and then came and got me.  I was a bit frantic when I arrived and sat under the bed and howled for an hour.  I then went round the house exploring.   I have found the dirt box and my biscuits and water.

So we will share some more photos in the days ahead as we explore our new house.

Packing Poppy

Hi everyone thank you for the moving wishes.  Mum took these photos of me helping her by checking out the boxes.  Mum still has lots to do and the movers will be here in the morning. 

Mum managed to grab me in the garden so now I have been held hostage at the cattery.  It is only for one night as mum wants to get partially unpacked before she picks me up.  Miss Belle will be down to help and we have our fingers crossed that the forecast rain holds off.

Wednesday

Mum is packing while she watches the antiques roadshow.   Multi tasking at its best.

She says that tonight will be the last night in our house as I have to go to the cattery hotel tomorrow night.

Busy

Mum is so busy - so much to do!!!!

Jobs

Well it really rained this morning in the city.  There were men employed to come and get the washing machine which is going to stay at a friend's house.  Mum had also cleared the cupboards out, and had some bags of stuff for the charity shop. V they said they would be here at 9am, but still not here at 11.30am.  At midday the real estate agent bought a couple round.  Mum sat outside as the rain finally cleared.

Finally at 1.30pm they arrived.  Mum wished she took a photo of the guy carrying the washing machine down 3 flights of stairs on his shoulder. They only took 10 minutes to load up so mum is pleased to have more space.

She went for a walk, as she had been inside all weekend.  Now dinner is cooking and packing is going ahead.

What a week!!

Stranding

 

Have you seen NZ on the news over the weekend?  Sadly over 500 pilot whales had stranded themselves at an area at the top of the South Island called Farewell Spit.   It is a shallow Bay, and once up on the sand they have to wait until high tide to try and re float them.  Hundreds died this weekend and the saddest part was that many of them had to be humanely euthanized, as the calls if the dying whales was drawing more of them to the beach, where they would be also stranded.  Heart breaking stuff.

No one knows why this happens and why so many have done this.

Caturday

Today is the last Caturday at this house.  Mum had a big busy day with 13 hours at work.  Now just an hour or two to rest and then to bed before she is back tomorrow. Then home tomorrow to sort out more stuff.

Me - well I chilled out and relaxed while mum worked.   Hope you all had a lovely Caturday.

Weekending

Mum has to work this weekend as well as trying to get some packing done.  As usual there is a bit of procrastinating occurring.   That always seems to be her mo.

Packing Bag

Mum gave in last night and let me have my own packing bag.  I have been it for most of the past 24 hours.I am so lucky.p

Spot Stealer

As soon as mum deserts her spot I dive in.  I have been very smoochy lately, and haven'the been too freaked out too much by mums puttering round.  She got home early today and made 4 calls sorting out moving stuff.  It is hard for her trying to pack and still leave the place tidy for the real estate showings.

PS  - we got asked about my name.  Mums previous cat Puss had a nickname of Poppy Princess, and mum liked the name so she knew as soon as I met her that my name would be Poppy.s

Thinking

Today was a day off for us so mum had a little sleep in with me today.  She then had to go to the new place to sign some papers and pick up the keys.   She took her tape measure to to figure out where everything will go.   It might be a tight fit in the living room as it is a bit smaller than our current one.  Which will be nice and cozy for us two.

Poppies

Ahhhh the sun was shining this afternoon, and mum saw that the poppies were blooming and looking their very best.

Mum and I have had the weekend chilling which has been very relaxing and we have enjoyed having two nice days in a row.  Mum even got brave and put on her shorts this afternoon.

Missing My Meadow Caturday

The gardener has been round and mowed down the meadow.  Oh noes!!!

We had a nice day.  Mum let herself have a nice day out with a bestie.   Then she came home to do a few chores.  Me - well I chilled.

Pretty

There were some pretty clouds tonight while mum was putting out the washing.  Last night she slept poorly, so is looking forward to bed tonight.

She wonders if cats ever get a bad nights sleep? Is that even possible?
