Nurse Poppy

I have been helping to nurse my mum as she is a bit poorly with the lurgy.  She has had no luck this year with catching bugs and is annoyed to get one in the middle of summer.  She was meant to work this evening but had to call in sick as she felt so bad and has spent the day in and out of bed.  She has been hot and cold so been under and on top of the covers, so I have been camping on the couch overnight to avoid being kicked off the bed by her tossing and turning.  She has drunk lots of fluid and managed a little bit to eat.  She is a bit worried about this bug, it feels like a tough one to overcome and she is meant to be working evening shifts and then some nightshift over Christmas - so the worst time of the year for her to be sick.

She did use her day off to try internet supermarket shopping which was rather easy, and ordered it all by 11am and it was outside the door at 2pm.  She did buy herself 2 large boxes of tissues, fruit juice and lots of other stuff to keep her occupied.  She also ordered 40 cans of fancy feast - I love you mum.

  2. That was thoughtful of your human, to order your food when she is feeling so poorly, Poppy! I hope she is better soon, and this bug is not as hard to shake as she thinks.

  3. Dear Poppy’s mum. What a curse to get sick especially at this time of year. Sounds like you feel as bad as flu even if it is a cold virus. Good thinking getting food on line. Lots of fluid. You know the drill. Must be hard looking after yourself. Good idea poppy in another room. How horrid night must be going hot and cold. Sounds like a week off not a bad thing. Just know I will be thinking of you and wishing you all good things. Stay in bed. And let wordless We’d. Pass you by. Ask poppy to give you hugs from us.

  5. Poppy, dear, it's a well-known, scientific fact that nurses are the worst patients, so be very patient with poor mum as she struggles with the lurgy. Here in the states two medics have told me to beware a bacterial infection that feels like 'flu. A friend is now fighting double pneumonia with the dratted bug. The sooner it's tested, identified and treated with antibiotics, the better!

  7. Home delivery of groceries is wonderful, especially when one is sick. I hope your mum can beat this illness soon.
