Scratchathon
Mum has noticed that I have been using this bit of the deck as my own personal scratching pad. She is not sure how to stop it, and she knows that it is tricky, as I don't have all the lovely trees that I used to climb at our old place to sharpen my claws. She has had scratching poles for me before, but I don't like to use them. I guess the good thing is that the deck is old and worn, and could do with replacing anyway, so she doesn't feel too bad and at least I am not scratching up anything inside.
What do you like to scratch on?

Keep at it Poppy!x
ReplyDeleteAt least Mum may get the steps and decking replace...Looks as though you've been hard at it..!x
What about a cardboard scratcher? Or piece of carpet? We like both, and have cat trees and scratching mats too. Nicki likes to scratch horizontally, Derry vertically. :-)
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the same thing, the cardboard scrathers with replacements. My Purr Gang use those.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky in that all of mine scratch on their posts. They don't get to go outside, so they can't scratch trees. They have to make do with the fuzzy fake ones inside.
ReplyDeletePoppy, if you are scratching the deck, you probably like scratching flat surfaces, not vertical ones, so I bet the scratching poles don't do it for you. Maybe she can try some flat, inexpensive cardboard scratchers and see if those work better for you - or maybe bring home some more wood for you to scratch and sprinkle some catnip on it.
ReplyDeletepoppy Q....purr haps ewe wood like a sisal mat...we scratch on sisal a lot

Jenna uses a scratching post called "Ultimate Cat Scratching Post" by SmartCat. It is 35 inches tall and very sturdy when not on carpet. We also use them at the no kill shelter.
ReplyDeleteSissy enjoyed the cardboard scratchers on the floor, both wave and flat.
Tex has a scratching pad, kind of looks like corrugated card board. He loves it, and even more when I rub catnip on it!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mum can get you some flat cardboard scratchers? It seems like you like flat scratching surfaces, Miss Poppy. :)
ReplyDeleteMom has some rubber mats around her sewing room so her feet do not hurt when she is standing. We love to scratch on those, especially when Dad yells at us
ReplyDeleteIt does look like some good scratching.
ReplyDeleteBet that feels good !
ReplyDeleteWe like scratching too, though Mom is not too happy when we do the doorframes :/
