Skies

Mum like to take pictures of the evening skies.  The clouds were pretty tonight as the sun was setting.  She was glad to get home early.  I greet her at the door, she feeds me as soon as she has taken her bag and coat off.  Once I've eaten i jump up and meow at her until she comes and sits beside me and tells me about her day.  She tellsme about what her day at work was like, what she had for lunch and what we are going to do in the evening.  Then i restart my napping.
 

Side Dish

 Mum woke up and the weather had settled a bit this morning,  so she did a supermarket run, getting lots of vegetables.  By the time she was checking out, the rain had started , but she didn't get too drenched making it home at 11am.  By 12.30pm by the time mum was having lunch there was rain, thunder, lightening and hail.  So mum curled up on the bed with me and her book.

After a long nap, mum made her dinner.  She roasted some lamb chops with kumara and carrots.  She cooked some purple cabbage and added broccoli, admiring the colors, and thought it would be perfect as a side dish on Halloween. 

The weather has calmed down here, although s lot of areas north of our city have been flooded. We're tucked up tight agsinst the hill and the weather often whips right past us.

Winter Sun

 There was one singular winter ray of sunshine to warm me up this afternoon.    Luckily i was allowed the heater on.   

Rain

 Tonight has been thunder, lightning and rain.  So mum is going to climb into bed and read a book.  Best of all, no alarm in the morning. 

Awake

 Mum got up to the toilet 2x, i woke her up 3xto say it was raining  and the thunder wokeher up 5 times.  Her fitbit told her she got 3.5 hours sleep last night.

 Mums been looking through the gallery on the phone at some old photos that make her smile, and as she is tired this week she is going to share some old favorites that she has forgotten about.

Holiday for a Queen

 Today was our holiday for the Queens Birthday, so mum had a day off with me.  She took it easy, and we just relaxed together.  She watched the concert at the palace, and enjoyed the Queen with Paddington Bear, and seeing her family enjoying themselves.  

Mum got my feast and made herself a big pot of butter chicken and rice, a filling dinner on a wintry evening.   Everyone sleeps better with a full belly.

Sunday

 After making the bed and hoovering mum took herself to the cinema to see the new Topgun movie.  It was a full house in the biggest theater in the city, and the most people has seen in a cinema in years.  It was interesting people watching with a mixture of ages, family and friend groups.

Mum enjoyed the movie.  It was a bit cheesy, and so similar to the original, but still an entertaining watch and the feel of a big block buster.  Mum would give it a 4/5.  As mum took the bus home the line to the next cinema was down the stairs,  and out on the street and around the block - something mum has never seen.

Now mum is busy yawning and ready for more sleep.  Luckily it is the Queens birthday holiday tomorrow,  so another sleep in.

Zonked

 Mum is zonked out after finishing nightshift this morning.   She had 2.5 hours of sleep before showering and getting ready.  She then went into town, bought her new winter coat, walked to meet a bestie, visited the art show, got fish and chips for dinner, got some supplies at the supermarket and caught a bus home.  She ate a biscuit and some fruit while watching the Queen on the news.  Now her eyelids grow heavy and she is joining me on the mama bed.  Nite nite.

Sleeps

 Mum feels like this is our relationship this week.  I have special feelings about her spot on the bed, and like to let her know when it is my time to take her spot.  Nightshift has distributed my routine.  Last night tonight though, so back go normal soon.

Wordless Wednesday

 

Good Girl

 I was a good girl and let mum sleep all day after her nightshift.  I only let her know it was dinner time at 2.20pm.  She got up and got me my feast, and i jumped back into her spot on the bed and slept for 5 hours straight.    Nightshifting is tiring work!!!

Wet

 Mum woke up today and it was dark and raining, but she knew she had to out to get provisions.  She only has two chapters left in her library book and needed groceries.   First time in ages she has worn her raincoat and needed her umbrella .  She didn't get too wet and managed to get two new books and a bit to eat.

Snuggly

 I've done a lot of snuggling this weekend.

Confused

 The passionfruit vine is confused, and has been flowering and growing new fruit out of season.   

Company

I kept close to my mum today.  She woke up with a runny nose and coughing yesterday, has had 3 negative rat tests and is feeling better today.   Some lem sip, vitamin C and big sleeps are helpful.   She has night shift starting again next week and doesn't want to be sick for that.  I love having her home to keep me company. 
 

Shadows

 We can't believe that the shortest day is just less than 4 weeks away.  We're ready for winter.  Mum has the winter bedding on, her merino jumpers clean and ready, boots are good to go and winter jackets on standby.  She has a pile of books to read and winter recipes have been researched.  She has been paying extra into her power account so the real winter bills won't hurt as much.  I'm practicing my 23 hour hibernation sleeps.  So we're good to go.

Dining

 One of our friends asked if i was left anything to nibble on while mum was on her shift.  This is my little heated bed where i nap, and next to it is my biscuit bowl, in mums bedroom.   She has to leave the biscuits in her room, as when they were in the living room or kitchen, naughty neighbors would sneak in and eat them.  Now they are here, they're all for me.

Gorgeous Monday Morning

 Mum was telling herself to get up and go for a walk this morning,  and usually she would muck around and stay home.   She did finally leave the house and was glad she did.  It was beautiful and sunny as she walked round the harbour,  and even quite warm.

She listened to some podcasts, enjoyed the views and the people watching.  She popped into the supermarket on the way home to buy her lunch.  She should have gone out earlier to enjoy her walk.  Its good for the soul to sit at the beach. I wouldn't know - I've never been.

Shift

 She's back on the evening shifts again- so it's a late supper for me!!

Purple Skies

 Stormy weather systems out the west of us have given us purple skies as the sun sets.   Last night was cold here and i was glad when mum got home to turn the heater on for me.  She slept very well and it was warming up and sunny by the time she was up.  

Mum went out and got sushi for lunch and a few treats for us  but she was glad to be back at 4pm to bring the clothes rack inside and draw the curtains.

Oh and thanks for the comments yesterday.  Mum has used command hooks/strips and blu tack before and they have all done some damage to the walls/ wallpaper of houses she has been in.  She's used to it now and i don't mind either.

Calender

 Mum seldom uses a calender, as she's not allowed to put anything up on the walls.  She keeps thinking though every year of getting a calender tea towel, that she can keep and use.  After thinking about one for about 10 years, this year she bought this one from ETSY.  It was a bit pricey, but cute and they had a cat just like me on it.  Of course she'll probably actually never use it, in case it gets stained. 

Sleep

 Mum has been super tired this week, something all of her colleagues are complaining about.  She think its that change if seasons, when it is harder to get upon cooler mornings when it is dark outside and you are nice and cozy in a warm bed.  

Mum is filling in tomorrow night for a sick colleague and figures out that she can sleep in the next 6 days.  I'm happy with that plan.

Keeping

 So mums decided we're keeping the quilt, especially as she left it on the bed and we slept under it last night.  I'm allowed the bag it came in too.  

She had a day off today, and went to the mall, but only spent 45 minutes there before heading home.  She let me have dinner at 2.20pm and then we snuggled on the bed while mum finished reading her book.  Its been raining and so it was time for soup and toast for her dinner, and a feast for me.

Undecided

 A couple of weeks ago mum wrote about the new bed cover she had ordered.   Two days after ordering,  the company offered 20% off, so mum emailed them and they replied within an hour, already refunding that sum to mums credit card.  Great customer service.

Mum received her quilt late last week, and decided today make a toasty winter bed.  As soon as she opened it she realized that it was too small.  Even though she had ordered and paid for the large, they had sent her the small.  She emailed them again, and they said that they had sold out in the large and would refund mum to send it back, or offer her a $50 refund if she wanted to keep it.  

She's somewhat annoyed, and did email them again to say that the large is still listed for sale on their website and will await their reply.  The thing is mum kind of likes it, and i jumped on it as soon as she spread it out on the bed.

Waiting

 I've been busy waiting for mum to get home.  She's working Saturday night again, but sleep in tomorrow.   Yippee!!!

Friday the 13th

 Mums not sure she has actually watched this masterpiece before.   Its playing as she finishes her late shift so shes got chips and salsa.  Hopefully she won't have nightmares afterwards. 

Leakage Update

 Last night mum had a text from her landlord to say that the tenants upstairs had a leak, and was there any signs of leakage in mums kitchen?  Mum said no  but this morning she rembered the leak on the bed from several weeks ago and emailed the picture.   She said that she did wonder if it could have come through the light fitting,  but there were no signs of leaking any other time.  

So it looks like I am not to blame and mums instincts were right.

Tuesday

 So i helped my mum to relax today.  She slept in and relaxed alternating between reading her book, looking at her phone, playing with me and watching some shows.   It was raining off and on, and the air was chilly so mum decided not to go anywhere .  I took a bundle of naps and spent 90 minutes begging for my dinner until mum got up to feed me.  

Rain

 It's been a while since we have had a solid rainy day, and today it has rained since mum got up, and now before midnight it is still going.  Luckily there was a small break in the precipitation while mum got the groceries.   She made herself a tasty butter chucken and rice for dinner and fixed me some fancy feast.  She has a meal plan sorted for the rest of the week now.

Luckily tomorrow is a day off for mum.  Dhe has only a couple if chores planned,  and lots of relaxing with me organized.   My favorite kind of day.

Happy Mothers Day

 Happy mothers day to all the lovely mothers.  Thank you for all of your love and care.  We hope you got love and kisses from your kids, human and fur babies.  We love you all!!

Damn

 Mum thought she'd got the cutest video of me and a butterfly.   Apparently not.

Friday

 Is it sad that mum is considering going to bed on Friday night at 7pm?   To be fair she has got up today and yesterday at 5.40am on about 4 hrs sleep.  Also she envies  my 23 hour a day sleep habit.  

She did go to bed early.  Lights were out at 8pm and she slept until 7.30am the next day, well done mum.

Classic

 Mum needed this tonight.  It made her smile all evening. 

Wordless Wednesday

 

Dark

 Mums alarm belted out its siren call this morning at 6am and it was dark, and all mum wanted to do was roll over and keep snoozing.  She did get up and face the world and felt better after her shower.

Coming home at 5.45pm the skies were darkening, and mum had forgotten to leave a light on for me.  The seasons are turning, but it is unseasonably warm at the moment. 

Mum has a nice small surprise today too.  She ordered a new bed cover last weekend,  and then it popped up today discounted a further 20%.  She emailed the company to ask, and they replied within a few hours and refunding mum the 20% straight away.  For once, she was impressed with customer service.  

Evening

 Mum went to work at midday today and was glad when work was over.  She went to the supermarket and got most of what she needed, but she will have to go back tomorrow to get some chicken as the supermarket was sold out.  She feels like a chicken noodle stirfry for tomorrows dinner, its been a few weeks since she made one.  With groceries being so expensive,  she tries to stick to a meal plan.  She has all the lunches sorted for the week.  She's got all mine sorted too.

Sunday

 So no dramas or puddles today.  Mum still isn't convinced that I did it, but she thinks she didn't do anything.  

So mum got up and went for a walk to meet a bestie.  The day was overcast and windy, but warm. First they went to a local pasta shop,  where mum had a delicious cabonara and an orange soda.  They then went to the local oldies cinema to see the new Downton Abbey movie.  It was a bit predictable,  but had a few tears and lots of laughs.  It was lovely to see all of those lovely faces again, and as always the clothes and hair were gorgeous.   It felt like visiting with old friends again.  A good autumnal afternoon treat.

Now its a relaxing evening for us.  Leftovers for dinner tonight for mum, a feast for me.  Mum is now washing her face, and getting her uniform ready for tomorrow,  so I am purring knowing bedtime is close.

Damp

 So - sorry about the graphic photo.   Mum went to come to bed this morning and noticed this rather large spot on the bedcover.   She was genuinely surprised, as she had heard no noise from the bedroom and i was sleeping quietly behind the heater.  She was so shocked that she even turned all the lights on to check that there was no leak from the flat upstairs.  No leak from there, and mum wasn't leaking so she figured that it must have come from me.

So mum thinks I must have had an accident - the first in my fifteen years.  She knows that things happen in your senior years, so she gathered up all of the covers and remade the bed.  Half were washed today and the next lot tomorrow.   Luckily mum has a lot of bedcovers.  She checked I was ok, as thats the most important thing.  I'm good, eating and drinking as usual and getting lots of sleep, and love from mum.

Sunshine

 This is the longest run of sunny days that mum has encountered on her days off.  She met a bestie for a lunch where mum and her had a lovely natter and then wandered through many of the shops of the city.   Mum only managed to buy a hand cream but liked to look at the new things out for winter.

Tonight is somewhat cooler, so the heaters are on and i am snuggled on the mama bed nice and early.

No Clue

 Mum has no idea what the plant is called.  Her brain has never been able to process plant names,  card games or chess.  She just likes to take photos of plants on her walk home, and even in deep autumn some are still beautiful. 

We are lucky that our days have been beautiful,  but the nights are getting chilly now.  It is the first time that towels are not drying on the line outside and need some time in front of the heater.
