Thanks for sharing 2015 with us and helping us get through. Alas command central was dispatched in the recycling this morning, and mum did check to make sure I was not inside. She would like to let you know that big boxes like that are hard to break down and mum is sure she may have grown some muscles overnight. Us girls are having a quiet night at home and celebrating on the couch like good middle aged ladies should. We hope that you all get to have an enjoyable evening and we wish you a great 2016 full of health and wealth.
Mum fed me some new feast last night. Actually it was old feast, it had sat on the shelf for months, a special breakfast feast. When she first fed it to me, I just licked all the sauce off at 6pm. At 8pm I went back for a little nibble. About 10pm I popped in and ate half of it and then at 8am this morning, mum noticed that it was all gone. So I guess I like it, but maybe not in my top ten.
Tonight was the perfect evening to sit out in the garden. The days have been super hot and sunny so as the sun fades from our place I like to sit out by the plants. It could also be because mum has put bread out for the birds too. Now she is going to water all the plants to keep them green.
Hello my friends. Mum did not end up getting much rest last night. After she posted, she got called straight in after 11pm and was at work until after 4am. She got some sleep in the morning and felt a bit listless this afternoon, but now it is someone elses turn to be on call so she can catch up on her sleeps.
So mum had something easy for dinner. Guess what she bought from the supermarket? Easter buns! As soon as Christmas is over they can't wait for an opportunity to start flogging the next public holiday. Only 3 months to go, but who is counting?
So now mum and I have a chance to head to bed at the same time tonight. Guess she better put the linens back on so we can snuggle down.
Boxing day is coming to a close here in kiwiland. Mum got this big box last week (she bought a chair from the internet). So she has let me play in the box inside. I can have it til Wednesday when the recycling is picked up and then it will be gonzo.
Last night mum went into work at 8pm and was there until after 1am. She got some sleep at 3am and then got woken up at 6.30am and went back for a couple of hours. She then thought as she was awake at 9am she would pop into town and look at a couple of sales. Well town was already pumping, there were lots of people already out and shopping. Mum got a 1/2 price bra, a couple of tshirts a couple of other little things. She was fading fast, so back home for a nap. It only lasted an hour, before I popped into to tell her I was ready for my dinner - every 3 seconds. So finally she got me fed.
Then she had her dinner of Christmas leftovers before back to work 7.30pm-10:30pm. Just as she was walking into our house, she watched the helicopter arrive at the hospital, so she is going to sit down for 10 minutes and then wait to see if she is called back in. Time to watch a bit of The Bodyguard - mum does love a bit of young Kevin Costner.
The good thing is that she can drop the phone in tomorrow morning for someone elses turn.
Merry Christmas everybuddy. We hope you all have a lovely day full of feasting. Mum got to work until 4am this morning, and got to sleep in for most of the rest of the morning. The sun was shining, so she sat in the sun with me and read her book and relaxed with treats. She has rung her family and has cooked her food. She baked a small piece of ham with some maple syrup, roasted some potatoes and cooked the peas and gravy. I have had my feast and taken myself off to bed at 6pm, and mum is watching the news. She has a little pudding and custard for her pudding.
Then the she needs to put some tidy clothes on and switch the work phone on, ready for action!!
Hope you all have a wonderful day - with full bellies and some little treats!!
So it is almost Christmas Eve, well afternoon here anyway and the warm summer sun is finally shining down. Just as mum has to head off to work this afternoon. Then she will be on call all night, so she thought she better pop a wee post off before the secretarial services go down.
Hope all your presents are wrapped and turkeys are chilling! See you at Christmas!
How is it going my friends? We had a lovely sunny day and mum got a sleep in which was good. She tried heading to bed early last night, but she couldn't do it, so stayed up and watched Forrest Gump for about the tenth time. It always seems fresh when you haven't seen it for a couple of years, and our tv is sure rolling out lots of the old faves.
Work was ok, and she was able to pop into the supermarket after work. Amazing how busy it still is, but shopping at 11pm means most of the crowds are still at home. No strawberries left, so mum will try and pop out tomorrow to get some early.
Me - I got my feast and went for a little walk outside while mum popped the rubbish out. Now is time for mum to have a little nibble on some treats and then time for bed. Tomorrow will be a long long day.
Hope you are all ready for the festive season!! Two more sleeps til Santa.
Mum was kind of busy last night. It was her turn on call again, and she worked all day and then spent from 11pm- 5am at work. She managed to get herself to sleep this morning from about 7-11 am. Then she had to go to work in the afternoon, but only had to go for about 2 hours.
Then off to the supermarket, just in case she ran out of food over Christmas. It is amazing how many treats you need for just one or two days. Mum would explode if she ate all the Chocolate she has stocked up, but as she is trying to avoid too much sweet stuff the rest of the year it is always nice to have some treats. Lucky me - I get treats every day.
So at 7.30pm mum is nodding off on the couch and might head off to bed soon. She needs to stock up on sleep, 3 more nights of call before she gets some time off.
Today is the first day of another busy week. We can't believe it is Christmas this week - how did that fly by? Mum dug out this old photo of me exploring the garden. Mum finished too late tonight to take any new shots. She stayed late at work, then went super market shopping. Then dinner needed to be dished out, a feast for me and she had some salmon and salad. Then dishes needed doing and mum needed to organise some stuff, to tidy her room and put some stuff away. Of course more needs to be done, but mum would like to be organized before Friday so that she can relax in between working.
Hope you are not too busy my friends and have plenty of time for zzzzs.
Us girls have been chilling. Mum has piled up the washing basket and doing a few chores, reading the book and taking it easy. She did head into town for a little wander this afternoon. The council has made the buses 1/2 price for the pre christmas season. Boy town was busy with last minute shoppers, mum saw a couple of people she knows and was glad to head home. So my feast was fed, she cooked some chicken nibbles and salad for herself. Family conversations were had, and now mum is tidying up and getting her uniform ready for tomorrow.
The mumster and I had a very quiet Caturday. Mum did not feel so bad today, and managed to get a couple of loads of washing out and some dishes done. She read her book and watched the box. She went for a walk in the afternoon, which made her realize that she still felt under the weather. An easy dinner was cooked, mum has watched Australian Masterchef, and now is coming to help me make the bed before us girls head off to bed. Another grey and cold day here - mum will be putting the winter blankets on the bed tonight. Tis a balmy 12 deg - not high enough for our summer. In fact the same temp as London - and they are in mid winter.
Ooops = change of mind. She has switched the apple tv on and is going to watch a quick film. 5 Flights up with Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton. A nice light comedy for a middle aged lady is just the thing.
Hope you have all had a fabulous Caturday and got some fun things done!
So mums evening shift at 11.30pm, but by 10pm she was feeling a bit yuck. She has got a bit of a sore throat and sore chest. There are lots of colds going round, and hopefully mum will fight it off. So plans for today got cancelled, which was a pain as mum was looking forward to going out with friends today. The weather was a bit grim. 10 deg all day and lots or rain before clearing this afternoon. Perfect for us girls to sit on the couch all day, and then nap - cos us girls are good at sleeping.
So mum has piled up the lem sip and the tissues and hopefully she can chase the germs away. Let the days off begin.
You were right my clever friends. Mum does like to give me kisses just between my ears. I am not a super fan of the kisses but I tolerate them.
It is day 7 of the super crazy 7 day stretch, so mum is pleased to have got through. She has been surprised, as she probably has the most sleep this week that she has had in months which is good. She got herself out today for a walk in the fresh air, and popped into the library for her Christmas supply of books and also to drop off some chocolates for the team that work there.
We have had rain today and it was cool. Our summers have been like this for a couple of years now. We seem to get a few nice sunny calm days in spring, then lost of rain and wind up until Christmas with the occasional sunny warm days. Oh well - we are lucky to not have snow or tornadoes.
So mum is hanging out until 11.30pm when shifts will be over and she won't have to be back to work til Monday morning.
5 days of late afternoon shifts done - two more to go. Today was lovely and sunny, so mum took herself out for a walk in the sun beside the seaside today to soak up the sea air. She also did a bit of browsing in the shops and got home in time for a bit of relaxing with me. She will glad when Friday rolls around - so will I. Dinner might return to a normal time.
Well here we are about to enter the half way mark of crazy shift week. Friday night was uber busy at work, and the past two have not been too bad. Steady but not crazy. Mum does find it hard though when she finishes her shift close to midnight to settle into bed any earlier than 2am, as it takes a while to wind down. Still she is lucky that if she is able to sleep through til 9am that is the longest sleeps that mum has had in months. Thanks middle aged lady hormones.
It has been nice to have the sun shining the past two days, time to get the washing out. Mum will relax and watch a couple of shows before she heads off to work again. Call the Midwife and Modern Family await. She has finished two books also this week, so she feels like she has managed to get a bit of relaxing in.
I have been sleeping lots and am always glad to see mum when she gets home at night. I always run to the door to greet her, and then tell her I am ready for my feast. A midnight feast is just as tasty, and then I need to sleep it off.
Hello Caturday kitties - hope you are all having/had a fabulous day. We got a good sleep in today and mum stayed in her dressing gown until it was time for work. Work was ok - not as busy as last night which was good as mum would have been worn out.
She finished at 10pm tonight which is the perfect time to pop into the supermarket. Stocks are being stocked up and most of the crazy folk are out having fun or in bed. Just lots of 20 year olds buying beer and chippies. Mum bought some some stuff to make some chicken risotto and has just realised that she forgot to buy lemons. She thinks she may have one - that will have to do. Tomorrow there will be time to make a meal that will last a few days just so she doesn't eat too much junk. Mum was lucky too as she just got home before it poured down.
So now I have had my late night feast and us girls are ready for a bit of evening relaxing. Modern Family binge here we come!!
So mum is going to countdown her crazy week. Day one starts today. A leisurely lunch today. Mums intention was to clean the kitchen and do some chores. However the young guy who bought the house next door is out on his roof painting the second floor with his shirt off. Mum is nervous of looking like a middle aged nosy lady if she stands in our kitchen, as is directly opposite. So the pile of dishes will grow and she will get them done tonight. When he is home - with his shirt on.
So mum has to go and get her uniform ready, paste some makeup on her face and brush the bits that need brushing. The biscuits and water have been topped up for me and off we go.
Mum has been on a countdown to Crazy week. She got to have today off, which meant a lazy morning with me. She then popped into town to do a couple of chores. She was glad to be able to run into two ladies that she used to work with who both looked happy and were busy doing their last pre Christmas chores.
So now begins mums last real crazy week before Christmas. She worked Mon- Weds and was on call on Monday night and got called into work at 11pm for a couple of hours. Thursday today was a day off which was nice, but she then starts Fri-Thursday of 7 days of evening shifts. Finally next week mum will get a 3 day weekend which will be fabulous. So mums posts for me might be at strange hours and hopefully we won't miss too many.
We hope you have some fabulous plans for the next week or so and not rushing round too much.
Mum says there were some good things about today. It was nice that she slept okish. Having a sleep in was nice and when she awoke the sun was shining, so doors and windows were opened to let the summer breezes in. She got to have brunch with me before getting ready and heading off to work at lunchtime.
Work was ok, and she got to head home at 8pm. Now she is eating leftover salad on the couch while watching Antiques Roadshow. They are showing repeats from the year 2000, but mum doesn't care she loves that show and wishes she could find something valuable at a car boot show. She doesn't actually goes to car boot shows, but she does like to dig around in second hand shops sometimes. Such a middle aged lady!!
I have eaten my feast and am now curled up in my bed, snoring away. Hope you all get a comfy sleep tonight!!
Mums Monday was a bit so so. It was a bit of a long day at work, and mum got another restless sleep. So tonight the chores will be done earlier and us girls will tuck ourselves off to bed. Are you listening Mum?
Every year, mum and 3 of her besties head off to a local fair where they enjoy their wandering round. Now one of the besties has moved away to live the good life on a farm, so they are down to the three of them and one of the girls mother who comes along. The girls meet at the local bagel shop for a chit chat and then go for a wander round. When mum woke up at 7am it was pouring with rain, and mum thought they might have to cancel for the first time, but they all agreed to still go. It did only rain for an hour, before it was just drizzling, so mum did enjoy the fresh air and bought a couple of little treats. Mum has managed to find a few little treats for herself which is nice, but no presents that she wanted for anyone else.
Mum made it home by the early afternoon, and the clouds were clearing which was nice. So much rain lately, we are looking forward to some more settled weather. We do want some warm days before summer is over and passed us by.
So after a bit of fresh air, we have come in for dinner. Mum rings her family and chats to them on a Sunday evening, the dishes are done and a uniform is made ready for tomorrows work.
You can see what today was like by this fab photo mum got of me this afternoon in the garden. She worked late last night and couldn't sleep til 2am, and managed to wake up at 4am, 6am and 7am before getting out of bed just after 8am. Middle age is such fun for ladies. The sun and wind were working together so mum loaded up the washing machine and got the uniforms , sheets and clothes washed for the week. Then she chased me round the garden for a photo session. She got some great shots. She is not a great photographer, and is not lying down on the ground. She just her camera and shoves it in front of my face and shoots paparazzi style, hoping to get a good picture.
So the washing has been brought inside, the feast was served up for me. Mum grilled some lamb chops and served them with potato and corn for herself, with a little chocolate mousse as a treat after dinner. A whole lot of dishes were done and the Christmas decorations have been pulled from the cupboard. We are ready for decorating.
So now is relaxing time. Mum is watching The Way tonight and quite enjoying it. Then she has a good book to read and an early night planned as she has a big day planned tomorrow.
I am in the dogbox (not really, I am just sitting under the bench on the deck). First I woke mum up at 4am to talk to her. She was pleased, cos she had just nodded off at 2am. Luckily she could sleep in. Then she found a little bit of puke on my new cat bed (which may have been what I was trying to tell her about).
Then when she got home tonight she let me drink out of her water glass, which I then tipped over her and the couch and the remote controls. Then I sat on her lap for a cuddle and went to jump off, but slipped (maybe it was the slippery wet jeans), so I dug my claws in.
Oh boy - luckily it is the weekend and we have two days to make up.
Mum had one of those days when it was a bit tough. Hard to wake up and get out of bed. Her back hurt and took an hour or two to settle at work. Work was ok - just long but she made it through. Even though it was windy and stormy outside, she headed into town to do a quick job and then went for a big walk home, to blow the cobwebs away. A bit of fresh air and a brisk walk was good, and then mum came home to me, feed me my feast and eat an easy dinner. Now is unwinding time and she feels much better.
Why 22.5? Why that is the amount of hours I have spent sleeping in my new bed in the last 24. Mum knows because she got called into work last night a couple of times, and got the day off work today. Our city celebrated the beginning of December with rain and clouds, so mum took herself back to her bed for a couple of hours. She got up round lunch time, had a shower and read her book and took it easy. I woke up every hour or so and chatted to her, and then took myself back to sleep. I did actually pop outside for some bathroom visits, and got up to eat my dinner.
Mum is pleased that I am so happy and comfy. Having a good bed and great sleep is a wonderful luxury, when we know that so many people and cats round the world don't have the pleasure of hours of comfortable sleep.
Yesterday mum was in town, and she spotted some pet beds on sale. Now I have not been a big fan of these in the past, but as I reach my senior years mum wants me to be nice and comfy, especially in the winter months. The best bit was that this was originally $70, down to half price at $35 and then mum had a $20 voucher, so it was a good discount. There were three beds to choose from, and mum thought that the little cat bed might be a bit too small for me, so she chose this grey medium sized one (actually she thought this one might have been a dog one - but she didn't choose to tell me that).
When she got it home she unpacked it and pretended that it wasn't meant for me. But I wasn't fooled. I ran over and climbed in it straight away. I did go to mums bed for a bit of a cuddle, but that only lasted my usual 10 minutes, and when mum got up in the morning, I was snuggled up in the bed, and when she got home and all evening. Finally a pet bed I will finally sleep in!
This is the view on a Sunny morning from our backyard. We look across onto a part of town that will never be developed, but left as natural park land known as the green belt. To the right of the two top photos you can see a cream building with a red roof just peeking out. That is Government House, where the governor General lives. So when Will + Kate + George came, and Charles + Camilla, that is where they stayed. Just across the road from us.
Mum and I had a little old sleep in today then it was too warm to stay in bed, so mum got up and put some more washing on. Today was sheets and towels, exciting stuff. A nice bagel for her brunch then she thought she would head out for a walk in the fresh air and to make the most of having both sunshine and warmth. She even broke out the birkenstocks, which made her realise how pasty her feet and legs look. Time to begin to look for a couple of things for Christmas. Did she find anything for anybody else - well no. Did she find a couple of things for herself - yes. She even got me an early Christmas present. I will show you tomorrow!!!
Caturday was sunny and breezy, so mum did load after load of load of washing, it being a pleasure to have it hanging outside in the fresh air. Mum did some dishes, and read her book in the sun.
She was trying to chase after me for some of the day as I have a rather large dingleberry hanging from my trouser pants. Thank goodness she has kept the camera away from that end of me, but it has made me rather uncomfortable and last night I left a smeary trail across her quilt - hence the washing.
I managed to stay far away from her and didn't let her catch me. She decided that she would pull out the big clothes peg (to put on my neck) and the scissors to cut the fur off tomorrow morning if she could to help me out, otherwise it would be a VET visit to get a summer bikini shave (for me - not her).
Mum headed out in the afternoon. She met a bestie for a nice and tasty dinner, it was a venison and pear burger that sounded better than it tasted. At least the fries were nice. Then mum and her bestie went off to see the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain. Mum was lucky and got to see them about 5 years ago, and it was just as good to see them again tonight. Check out their clips on you tube, and if you ever get the chance you should go and see them.
When mum got home, she noticed that my dingle berry was missing. It was gone from my trouserpants, and she searched around the house and can't see it lying anywhere.
Thank goodness the weekend has begun. Mum was fast asleep at 5.30am, but I came in and woke her up early to let her know it was raining outside. I meow and meow until she wakes up and pats me and feels my furs, once she says thank you for telling me about the rain, I run off and go to sleep on my spare bed. She loves the pussy cat weather alarm clock so much.
Us ladies are relaxing tonight, so much so that mum fell asleep on the couch after dinner. Sigh - middle age is such an awesome phase. Maybe it is because she was tired from being awoken so early.
Today us girls are tuckered out. Mum because she did shift last night and on call. Me cos I had to keep this tea towel nice and furry. Mum accidentally left it on the bed, so I claimed it as mine.
Happy Thanksgiving for all of you celebrating. We hope you got to enjoy lots of yummy treats with your friends and family.
Mum had intentions of doing lots of chores and cleaning after work tonight. Instead us girls curled up on the bed and she read her book for an hour or so. Then there were lots of phone calls taken and dinner wasn't dished out for her til 9pm (chicken and veg chilli noodles), although she remembered to serve my feast up earlier.
So now it is getting late and mum only had a chance to put a couple of things away and rinse some dishes. Tomorrow night will have to be busy then, with jobs done before she plants her butt on the couch.
Hope you got some relaxing done tonight. Oh and the noisy boy from next door, he is rather cute. Our upstairs neighbour is his nanny, and mum got to walk home with them tonight. When mum is there he is all shy and quiet.
I was very alert when I was out in the garden today. You see the neighbors have a young son who likes to squeal a lot, which always makes my furs stand up and my ears were on high alert. That was lucky said mum, cos it made me still enough for her to get some photos. They sure are sneaky these paparazzi.
