Long Tuesday

Today felt a bit super long to mum.  She was on call last night, and that always brings a long sleepless night to mum, as she is aware of waking up every hour or so, and more so because mum did not actually get called in for work.  Which means she has to be up at 6.30am to get ready for another days work.  If she got called in, then work has to give her a 9 hour break from finishing, so if she went in to work from 5-7am she would get the whole next day off.  So on one hand tired from not sleeping vs tired from having to get out of bed in the middle of the night.

It was a good day at work, steady but not too bad and mum felt she got a fair bit done today.  Then after work, an interesting two hour talk from a couple of interesting speakers.  Then home for a bit of a cuddle, although I am insisting on popping outside even though it is lightly raining.

The good think is that the talk had some awesome caterers, and mum thinks that she has had melon, oranges, pineapple, plums and kiwifruit today as well as some spicy chicken rolls and lovely little chocolate cake squares.  Yumm!!  Bless a good caterer - one with a good mix of healthy options.

So she is off to bed, and will vacated my bath mat so I can sleep on it all night (the one sitting on the couch that is).

  2. Poppy, dear, your mum's luck with the event caterer's menu balances her disappointment with the 'steak and potatoes' served at the restaurant. I forgive caterers much if they serve decent coffee with real milk and sugar.

  3. Mmmm, free food! Yum. Well, we hope it was free. We're also glad the talk was interesting! Not even tasty food can make up for a dull lecture. :-)

  4. Yes, it must be draining, always being prepared for a call. That would not make for a restful night. But that fresh fruit sounds delicious.

  6. We hope your poor mum has a good night's sleep. Nice, though to have some tasty food that she did not to prepare herself. Lucky you to have your own bath mat to sleep on.

  7. Our mom bean says she doesn't think, no make that knows, she could manage an interrupted night's sleep like that. She has been waking at 4 a.m. the last few mornings and by the end of the work day she's almost ready to crawl into bed.

    The caterer's options sound delish!
