Dinner Time

This was tonight's dinner - spicy chicken tacos.   Mum got asked about her food subscription.   She uses My Food Bag which is a NZ one.  On Weds she gets an email telling her what will be delivered on Sunday.  It will tell her if she needs any pantry items like olive oil, butter or milk.  On Sunday afternoon her box is delivered at approx 3pm straight to her door.

In the box are the recipes and ingredients for 4 meals, one of which is big enough for two people to eat.  Mum finds there is often enough for leftovers the next day and will get 6-7 meals out if the food.   The chucken/fish/meat is all in sealed bags and chilled along with vegetables and things like sour cream.

They support NZ businesses and use local fresh ingredients and base menus on seasonal produce.  It has got mum eating more salads than normal and her work trousers were a little loser this week.  She has learnt a lot of new menus and techniques which is good.

Mum had been a bit bored with her own cooking and this has got her a bit more enthused.  It is pricey at $99 but mum is shopping less and less likely to waste any food so it is not so bad.  It is also easy to opt out of if you go away or would like to stop for a while.  There a range if types of boxes for different size family or vegetarian options.

Me - well I'm easy.  A cab of feast each night suits me.

Wordless Wednesday

Tuesday

 Tonight's tasty dinner was a pumpkin/courgette/cucumber beef salad that mum enjoyed.  She had a long day at work and went for a walk afterwards to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.  It is  ice to not have to think about dinner, everything was all organized when she got home.

Last night there was a low sea fog that gave a spooky look to the night sky.  Mum was able to get these shots at 11pm.  She is trying her best to head to bed around 10pm.  Last night was a fail but she will try harder tonight.  Better luck tonight mum.

Hello Monday

 Mum wasn't sure if she would like tonight's dinner.  It was a fish with panko crust and a salad made with grain, pear,red onion,corn and spinach.  Mum cooked the grain but didn't like it so left it out.  She liked the rest of it all though and finished it all.

Then she came in and gave me a fishy kiss.

Shopping Sunday - the napping edition

Mum had to work today, which went pretty quickly.  Christmas is coming quickly - just 4 weeks away, so not many shopping days left.  She found all these cool pillow cases on ETSY - perfect for you to snuggle up to.

Caturday

 We both had chicken dinner today on Saturday.  I had mine from fancy feast and mum had roastie chicken with sweet potatoes and a pile of peas.

Mum took herself out today.  She had an unsettled  night and so got herself out in the fresh air.  She got a pile of magazines and sat and flicked through them at the library (and put them back on the shelf).  She walked to the market and had a wander.  Then time to come home and have a little nap with me.  Caturday bliss.

This how mum left me this afternoon.  She is on shift again, but will be home later.  She has sensed a shift in me - a slowing down , needing lots more sleep than a few years ago.  Being middle aged herself she understands.  She could happily curl up with a book on the bed too.

Glorious

Today was another lovely day in the city. Mum had the day off so us girls relaxed in bed until mum had to jump up and put the rubbish out.  She had lunch and got herself dressed - short pants, a t-shirt and sandals are fine now, as the weather has warned up to a mild 20 deg C.  She went and got herself a few little treats, a necklace that was on sale and a couple of new dishcloths and sponges for the kitchen sink.

The library needed to be visited and then mum made a simple supper.  Bacon and strawberries on toast.  Mum got her new modem too.  She almost needed a degree to read the instructions, but she managed to get it working.  Yippee she may be able to watch a movie at the weekend.

Mum also stopped on the way home to take photos of some flowers she found growing in the streets around us.  So pretty.

Mumster Day

Mum had a bit of a nothing day today.  She had lots of plans - but didn't feel motivated to head out.  She wanted to not spend money and spent time with me instead.  We relaxed, she read and ate - I ate and slept.  All is good.

Maybe she will get out and about and see some more flowers tomorrow.

Phone

Mum has a Samsung S7 phone that has been a bit of a pain since mum got it.  It constantly overheats,runs out if battery and was switching itself off.  She took it in a couple of times and was dismissed a bit from the people in the shop.  They had to fix it 7 months ago as it stopped working.  This time a couple of weeks ago the back started peeling off and a week ago by the time mum got to the shop the back was just about completely off.  Anyway it got shipped to repairland and mum got to pick it up today.

They said it was the worst one their shop had seen and just about everything was replaced on the phone.  Mum said she would have expected to get a new phone as a replacement seen this one seemed to be a dud.  They said that wasn't their policy.  It does feel new and is much shinier and tidier.  Now mum has to reload all her blogs and take more photos of me.

Sunday Shopping

Christmas is fast approaching.  So I am going shopping on the internets to find gifts that you might want to let your peoples know that you want.  We found these fantastic cardboard apartment/castle/tanks on ETSY from a seller from Bulgaria - Cacao Pets.  You might have to order early to get these in the post.

Caturday

Awww it's Caturday again today.  Mum was awake early bird this morning as she had to be at work by 7am.  The day went fast for her .  She did get home though , had her dinner and then came and lay her head down on the bed with me.  She actually fell asleep at 5.30pm and didn't wake up until 9pm.  So now it's time for a shower and then back to bed for mum.

Me well I snuggled close by mum as she napped .  Now I am going to inspect the perimeter and get ready for same major snoozing.

Summery Skies

There were pretty summery skies tonight.  I chilled out all day and slept on all corners of the bed.  I greeted mum as she came home as she was the carrier of the fancy feast.

Mum is working at the weekend so she made a simple supper - chicken and salad. She lit a couple of candles and put her feet up.  Her favorite type of Friday night.

Thursday Dinner

 Tonight mums dinner was a tasty lamb dish with honey roasted potatoes and carrots served with a cucumber/mint yogurt sauce.  There are leftovers for tomorrows lunch too.

I got to go outside again and rubbed the picnic table to soak up the scents. Intruders may have been round so I have to leave my smells there.

Mum has a pile of dishes to do and to hoover the carpet and then it will be time to relax.

Sunbathing

Mum is on the afternoon shift again today.  She got herself up early though as she wanted to get to the post office early.  She also went to the supermarket and library and got home within an hour.

I meanwhile relaxed in the sun.  I even showed mum where my secret sleeping hiding place is.  A little nest for me to sleep in and keep an eye out for intruders.

Oh and mum got some new fresh buns for her lunch after the bird incident on Sunday.

Monday Already

After our Sunday drama we needed a wee sleep in this morning.  Mum has a couple of evening shifts.  She got her meal deliveries for the week.  She made some Thai green curry turkey meatballs with a salad and jasmine coconut rice.  She did manage to burn the rice a bit and the meatballs are a bit too cooked, but it was all pretty tasty and she make this one again.

Mum has let me take prime position on the bed while she does the dishes and vacuums before she has to go to work.  Lucky mum.

Sunday Visitor

 So mum and I had a nice sleep in today.  She went into town as she has to get her phone fixed.  It is coming apart and overheating.   The man at the shop was vague if course, so mum thinks she will end up with some mega bill.   When she got home she made a couple of bins for her lunch.

She was attempting to tackle the kitchen chores, and had dishes soaking and things pulled out of the cupboards.  Needing a drink she was sitting in the living room when she heard some chirping.   Going back to the kitchen she didn't see anything, so carried on with the dishes.

When she finished them she turned around and realized that the bird was sitting on top of her packet of rolls.

So doors were closed and she was able to carry the rolls to the window so the bird could fly away.  Needless to say the little birdie left mum a present on the top of the rolls and the stove.  So lucky birdies will get all the rolls.

Oh and the reason the bird git in was mum was opening the window and dropped the latch so it had swung wide open and she couldn't close it.  She used her broom to swing it round, but that managed to break the broom head off.  So she had to use the mop - success.

Caturday

After a long 12 days in a row working mum was pleased to be able to sleep in.  She work up at 8 and 8.30am and still didn't get up until after 9am which felt good to her.  I came in and visited with her to remind her to get up several times.  It was a nice day outside so she washed clothes and sheets and opened up all the windows. 

In the afternoon she headed out to visit with a bestie.  They ate fried good and had a drink and went and saw Tulip Fever at the movies.  It was ok - just a 3/5 from mum.  She made her way home to me in time to rescue the washing and dish out my feast.  Now time for relaxing before bedtime.

Chilly

It has grown a tad chilly again so mum and I are going to snuggle up together tonight.  She is tired after her 12 day working stretch and a few stressful days.

Do this weekend will be devoted to relaxing - my favorite kind of weekend.

Waiting

Mum was a bit late getting home tonight as there were things happening at work.  She was glad to get pit into the fresh air even though it is a slow climb back up the hill to our house.  She was glad to see me and always walks into the house and says Hello Baby to me.  I always meow back.

Shopping

Mum decided that last weekend that she would avoid the shop and save her dollars.  Instead she went online and bought herself a couple of things.  She did not buy me this cat box climbing thing from Kafbo on ETSY.  Shame.

We are going to search the interwebs and show you things that your parents probably won't buy you for Christmas, but you should put on your Santa list anyway.  Mum says I already have an apartment/box, and says she is sure if she bought me this I would ignore it anyway.

Weather Change

After days of calm warm weather, the pressure has dropped and winds are whipping around.  I keep looking out the window and meowing at mum to warn her.  She did watch the weather forecast on the news so she knows that there is a storm on the way.

Lucky her - she's on call tonight too.  I hope she doesn't get blown away.

Bedcentic

Mum was only at work until 3am this morning.  So she had a wee sleep in and then a nap in the afternoon.   I jumped up and snuggled close by.  Not touching her but close enough to keep my eye on her.

Snore

 Mum has returned to her own cooking.  Steak , potatoes and greens.  She got taken out for lunch and had French toast with bacon and bananas.  Mum and her friend saw a movie.  Mum fell asleep a couple of times and woke up cos her friend was fast asleep and snoring.  Luckily there were only 8 people in the cinema - but they were the youngest in there.

I rolled around laughing when she told me that story.

To her credit mum was on  call last night and only got 2 hours sleep.

Weekend

The weekend has begun for us, although mum is on call so not much rest for her.  She has a treat day out tomorrow with a friend so she hopes to get some sleep.  Luckily I can show her how as I am an expert in that field.

Thursdaying

 Tonight is quinoa chicken meatloaf for dinner.  It is the first time mum has cooked quinoa and she is not excited by it.  I guess the dinners this week have been healthy , but the dishes pile up every night.  Mum has learnt a few things- a touch of olive oil and vinegar on her salad make it better, she didn't hate marinated peppers but is still not tempted by olives.

Me - well I tried to give mum 4 cuddles this morning.   Mum thinks that I sit on her to try and convince her to stay home with her.  She says that would be great, but she has to go and earn the dollars.
