Springing

The heaters are off and the windows are open,  mum and I are thinking that spring is arriving.  I'm going to roll around and snooze outside.

Waiting

The birdies are often waiting for their dinner.  I am often waiting for the birdies to fall off the washing line.

Shaved

You can see my little shaved spot where the bloods were sucked away from me by the vampire vets.  John asked how they took my blood pressure and we think they do it like a human but on my paw.  I am very good at the vets and will sit still while they do everything except take my temperature.

I am still quiet today but back into my usual routines which makes mum happy.

I'm Back

 I'm back and glad to be home.  Can you tell?  Mum thinks I am a bit quiet after my Cattery vacation, but that could be because the vet stole some bloods and gave me injections (my vaccination and some stuff for my knee).  I got my blood pressure taken - the first time it was high but there was a dog barking and I was scared, the second time it was normal.

The best bit was the vet said everything was normal which is good for an old girl.  So I sniffed everything at home.  cuddled with mum for 2 minutes and am now ready for bed.

Mum went to Aucland to see the rugby - All Blacks vs Australia.  It was very exciting cos we lost to Australia last week in Perth 47-26.  This week we won 36-0.  Mum enjoyed the match although it rained and was cold sitting high up in the stands.  Mum disliked that a lot of the audience booed when the Australian team came out, booed the kiwi women's player who won an award for the 50 games she played for the women's side and they booed the Prime Minister JacindaAdern.  It made her quite sad that the people attending found that acceptable. 

Anyway mum had a great weekend away with good friends and lots of wine and food, and now she is glad to be home with me.

Away

We are away for a couple of days.  Have a fun weekend!!

Sun Puddles

 I ran outside this morning to soak up the warmth of a spring sun puddle.

When mum got home from some chores she found naughty neighbor cat enjoying some too.  Can you see him?

Ageless

Mum wishes she could be as ageless as me.  I'm looking good for a 12 year old.

Straight Ahead

Mum was pleased to catch some shots of me looking at her today.  I was busy looking outside at more stormy weather and waiting for my dinner.  3.30pm isn't too early is it?

Caturday Clouds

Mum had to get up at 5.30am which was a hard way to get back into work mode.  Luckily the day wasn't too bad.  On the way home she could see the sky becoming darker and it began to rain just as she reached home.  Then the thunder and lightning started.  Still we were nice and dry inside and it wasn't too stormy for long.

I was worn out and needed a big after dinner sleep.

Home

Mum wandered past this local house on the way home and liked the light shining through the living room window with the pussycat waiting for their people to come home.  She doubled back to take the photo as it made her smile.  I was waiting for her when she got home too.

Whizz

Mums staycation break has whizzed by and now we have one day of relaxing before work starts up again.  Where does the time go?

Busy

Mum and I have still been busy in our staycation.  Mum seems to be enjoying catching up on months of sleep.  I have been enjoying the sunny days and are outside scratching.

Out and About

Mum took herself out and about this weekend - she saw one of the neighbor cats guarding its turf on her walk into town this afternoon.  The days have been sunny but cool here as storms hit other parts of the country, we have been sheltered here.

I helped mum to sleep in both mornings by giving her snuggles.  I lie across her leg and purr so she can't get up.  During a work day I have to get up quickly so mum can get up and get ready.  Holiday snuggles are the best.

Sunshine

While storms lash other parts of the country we were bathed in sunshine today which was lovely with curtains opened to let the sun warm the bedroom.

Holidaying

Mum is enjoying sleeping in until 8am each day - such a luxury.   Today was chilly and tonight is getting cold.  Mum knows when it gets chilly as it is the only time I try to sneak under the covers with her.

She has seen 8 movies so far and not a dud one yet.   Mum finally feels that she is catching up after months of bad sleeping.  Maybe next year she might have to go somewhere warmer for her holidays .  That would mean leaving me behind.  Maybe I would like the beach mum!!

Film Festival

Mums little staycation has coincided with the film festival.  She saw 2 yesterday and today was the busiest planned day with 3 movies.  So she is trying to get some good sleeps overnight so that she is not too tired.  A warm cinema tends to make mum nod off.

Mum ate at a local cafe for her lunch yesterday and had a subway sandwich today.  Tomorrow she has an early then late movie and as bad weather is forecast she thinks she will have time to visit the library and come home to have soup and a bagel for lunch.  Between movies she slips into the cinema bar with her book and has a quiet drink.  Her idea of a nice grown up holiday.

Happy

Happy to have mum home.  Even happier that last night she put my favorite quilt back on the bed.  I spent hours happily rolling around on it.

Holiday

I am overjoyed with anticipation!!!  Can't you tell?  Mum gets to have a staycation with me.  She's worked hard and is glad to have a wee break. 

Caturday

Mum was up at early o'clock this morning leaving home at 06.30am.  I stayed in bed and let her go out in the dark.

She got home though at 3.30pm which was nice.  The birds were happy too as mum gave them lots of food.  Can you see them waiting for their dinner?

  She was going to do some chores and then sit back and watch a movie, but after a shower she had to lie down and have a nap.  Oh well there is always tomorrow night.

Warm Sun

Warm sun seems to have been felt around the world today - France and the UK were sweltering.  We had a glorious warm and sunny one two which mum got a taste of on her walk home.  The birds were happily darting about and the trees behind the houses on our street were lit up like they were glowing.

Thursdaying

How was your Thursday?  Ours was much the same as every other day.  It is hard to believe that July is almost over and it is only 5 months until it is Christmas again.  Mum was talking about Christmas and  birthdays with her work colleagues.  Mum has turned into one of those people who is happy to get no presents from her friends, and now finds it hard to buy for anyone else.  Everyone has lots of stuff already, and if they want to do something mum would rather go out for a meal or too a concert or show than buy stuff to stick in the cupboards.

Of course I still like presents.  I liked my big box of temptations that I got for Easter.  I am still eating my way through them.  What camp are you in - presents or no presents?

Tacos

Chicken tacos for dinner tonight again.  There is something about a wrap that means mum will eat more salad than if it were just piled on a plate. 

Me - well I just nibbled my feast.  As usual I ate 2/3 and left the last bit on my plate while I go back to bed.

Spring Like

Mum left to go to work this morning at 6.20am and it was dark and cool.  Our city stayed covered in for until the clouds burned off.  Mum went to the library, the post office and the supermarket after work and was still home by 4.30pm.  It was sunny and even a bit hot on her walk home from the bus.  She opened all the windows for a bit of fresh air - until it cooled down.

I got feast for dinner and mum made chicken tacos for dinner.  She had a new guacamole recipe from the internet that she thinks is her favourite yet.  It's only taken a few decades to find but good while the avocados are cheap.

Sundaying

Mum has had a quiet weekend - no going out, no shopping, no visiting, no visitors.  Instead there is a clean uniform ready to be worn tomorrow, all the dishes are washed and drying, library books are ready to go back to the library, parcels packed up ready for the post office, shopping list ready for the supermarket, clothes put into a bag for the charity shop and warn out clothes thrown out.  She is worn out now - time to come and lie down with me and read her book.

Caturday

Mum gave me a special Caturday treat.  She gave me another bag to sleep on and I have been on it all day!! It wasn't worth going outside today as it has been raining all day.  So is girls have hibernated inside except for the 10 minutes spent outside feeding the birdies.

Phew

Phew mum is glad that tonight's shift was easy, as she is on day 11 of 12.  Just Friday to get through and then the weekend can begin.  I am coping well and will be glad to get my dinner at a normal time.

I am enjoying my winter nest, it keeps me warm while mum is at work and I can climb on her for a cuddle when she comes to bed.

Shift

Mum is on shift again.  She was very productive this morning with washing out on the line, lunch made and dishes done.  She also put her feet up and read for a while.

She was super busy at work and so is having her dinner now at midnight.  Hopefully she can sleep on a full stomach - I can !!!

Browsing

Mum was browsing some old photos tonight and found this one of me at our old house -looking all perky and ready for action.  It is that time of winter when it is hard to get nice photos as it is dark when mum leaves the house, and dark when she gets home.  This morning she was up at 5am and not home until 5pm, so she will be glad to get a sleep in tomorrow.  I'm always glad of a sleep in - every day!!

Exhausted

. Mum was exhausted yesterday.  Her lack of sleep truly caught up with her.  She dragged herself to work and was glad the day was busy so that she didn't have to think too much.  She got an easy dinner so she didn't have to cook and came home and was almost straight to bed after a little relaxing.

This morning was a 5am wake up for the early shift which she feels much better for which is good as I'm pooped!

Mum says the cricket was exciting  even though our team lost well done to England.  

Big Night

Tonight will be a big night in our little country.  It is the Cricket World Cup and our boys are playing England in the final.  We saw on the news tonight that tickets are all sold out for the final, although ticket touts are trying to sell 2 tickets for 10,000 pounds or  (NZ)$20,000 - wow!!  Most kiwis will be sitting at home and watching on the television, so there will be some tired folks at work on Monday morning.  Mum has got the doritos ready and hopefully she won't be in at work all night.

Mum got called in last night again and got home at 4am .  I woke her at 8am and 9am to say hello and then we both got woken twice by loud thunder and heavy rain, so mum gave in with her three hours sleep and just got up.  She did have a nap this afternoon so she feels a bit better.  Luckily the storm blew through pretty quickly and by 4pm the skies were a bit bluer. 

Mum is off to make her dinner - she has some lamb chops with roast potatoes and kumara (sweet potato) and green beans.  I have had my dinner, some lamb and gravy which was yummy.  Lucky us!!

Mild Caturday

Mum got called in twice overnight and only got to bed at 5.30am.  She got a few hours sleep.  I woke her up at midday to say the day was nice and she should get up.

She did get up and did the chores which kept her busy.  It was mild enough to turn the heaters off and open the windows. I was busy here telling mum that it was almost certainly my dinner time at 3pm.

 Mum then spent the evening relaxing and getting ready in case she is out again tonight.

Busy

Mums on call and busy this weekend.  luckily the birdies will keep me entertained.

Evening

Mum came home to find me napping.

She saw a strange thing she has never seen before on the way to work.  it was the rubbish day and she saw about 20 sparrows pecking at a rubbish bag trying to break it open to get the contents.  She always thought it was cats or dogs who split open the bags, never considering that it might be birdies.

Mum is very tired this week  - and she has to find the energy to be on call the next few nights.  I will help her by napping for her - I'm good like that.

Mum fed the birds.  I was hoping that one of them was slow moving but no luck.

Evening

Evening folks!! Mum got out and fed the birdies after she got home from work.  The minute the sun goes down the heaters are on and curtains drawn.

I was a good girl today and am ready for my snoozing.

Distractor

Today I helped mum get distracted from watching the tv, doing some study, finishing the housework and reading her book.  It is a skill I am good at.  Of course that means I missed out on sleeping time 0 so I am very tired.
