Snoozer

I helped mum make the bed by snoozing on the mattress.  She washed her clothes tonight and made dinner and not much else.

It has been a holiday here in our country in honor of the Queens Birthday.  Even though mum worked she now gets a whole day off tomorrow which will be fabulous.  She is going to make it a treat yourself Tuesday.  But first to bed for a big night sleep and  no alarm going off at 5am.

Sleeps

Mum feels better after a good 7 hours sleep last night and I feel good after my 20 hours.

She gets organized at night time.  underwear and uniforms are laid out for the morning.  Lunch is made and in the fridge and her bag is all packed.

my water and food bowls are checked to make sure that they are full.  Aren't we lucky?

Caturday

It is Caturday here at the the house of Q.  The mumster has big plans.  She is going to eat her dinner - meatballs and vegetables will be done before 7pm.  She is going to watch Britains Got talent and then she is going to head to bed at 8.30pm.  It's tough being an old lady.  Actually she has been working the early shifts the past few days having to get up at 5am ,and in the last 3 nights has only averaged about 5 hours sleep - so tonight she is going to be an earlybird and hit the hay real early.

She was feeling a bit down about being tired and working all the time, so she got herself a lotto ticket on the way home.  One of mums colleagues looked tired, and she told mum about her husband who works 6 days a week and has a 2 hour commute each day, so they don't spend a lot of time together.  Mum asked the man at the lotto shop if he gets a day off over the weekend, as it is his own business and he told mum that he only gets 4 days off a year.  That made mum feel lucky that at least she gets some days off and her holidays each year.

So we are off to get our relaxing done before it is 8.30pm.  Such a party animal mum (by the way I went to bed at 5pm after I had my fancy feast).

Friday Night Movie

Yeah good luck teaching me to ride on a bicycle Mum.  In fact mum is not too sure that she could still ride a bicycle, it's been a few years since she has been riding.

Habit

Mum says I am a creature of habit - i like to sleep on my shopping bag if i climb up on mums bed.  I also like mum to get back into bed after she has dried her hair - i sit on her leg and go to sleep.  Every night I come and join mum in the living room and ask for a few treats.  I like to run and meet mum at the door when she arrives home and like my feast straight away.

What things do you do every day?

Wordless Wednesday

Chilled

The temperatures have dropped round here to round 6 degrees C, but it feels colder in our old house.  Mum has pulled out the woolly hat and gloves.  the heater are on and she will retreat to bed early so that she only heats one room.

Mum had a chance to go to the supermarket tonight.  She bought lots of soups and tasty treats so there is lots for the week ahead.  oh and some feasts for me too.

Crazy NZ House Prices - What Will $1.65 Million Buy You?

This charming 4 bedroom and  1 gross bathroom 569m2 house in Auckland sold for NZ $1.65 million recently.  That equates to 867,800  UK pounds or US $ 1.17 Million at todays exchange rate.  Crazy huh?  It is not even in a livable condition.  House prices are crazy here, and mum worries about our future as homes are pretty unaffordable in most of our cities and many of our regions as prices continue to go up and up while wages stay pretty much the same.

Slow Sunday

It has been a slow Sunday here at the house of Q.  Mum says it included;

• breakfast of bacon on toast while watching The Antiques Roadshow.
• Finally having a shower at 11am
• lunch of veg and soup while watching Grand Designs.
• Watching the clouds drift past
• A bit of tidying up was done
• Lamb, potatoes and carrots in the oven and cabbage on the stove for a Sunday night tea.
• Me - well I stayed on my heated cat bed.  It is meant to get cold tonight.

Flood Caturday

So last night I had a vom on the mumster bed to let her know that I was not impressed that she was late home.  Today she tried to wash the quilt - and that got the washing machine stuck .  Mum got up to clear the blockage - but in 2 minutes the washing machine poured a whole lot of water out, pouring out onto the hallway carpet.  Mum quickly grabbed all of our towels, but it quickly soaked through.  So she has had the heaters out to dry it out.  It is a cool night, down to 9 degrees, and  our heaters are chugging out the heat in the hallway.

Mum gave herself a break and went out for a break for a visit with a friend.  So she had a slightly successful day.  A bit of relaxing and a bit of stress.

2

Mum was thrilled to get home and find not one but two little piles of vomit - one on each of the two quilts on the bed.  Luckily I got none on my shopping bag or on my toy mouse.  Lucky huh?

Thankful

We are thankful today that it is Thursday and Friday is here tomorrow.  Even though mum was up super early she didn't need a nap after work, she had a tasty dinner of lamb with spicy potatoes and cauliflower, mum got some treats at the grocery store, dishes were done and kitchen tidied and there is time for mum to relax and read before sleep.  Life is good.

Darkness

After some lovely sunsets last week it has turned to that part of autumn when darkness seems to fall at 5pm.  Tonight we were treated to thunder + lightning, rain and high winds.  I have been fidgeting waiting for the weather to calm so that I can go outside and do my night patrol and ablutions.  Finally at 10.50pm we have a lull and I can pop outside.

Mousies Revenge

Last night while making dinner, a jar fell out of the pantry and fell onto my mousie dish spilling hundreds of biscuits all over the place.  Mum got that bowl for me when I was a baby, on a visit to Melbourne.  Luckily she had a back up bowl, but it did make her sad that it was beyond repair and had to be thrown away.

Now imagine the dark bedroom at 2am, when mum heard the unmistakable noises of real life mouse chasing.  Mum switched the light on as I chased it on the bed.  She jumped out to grab the brush and shovel to take it outside, but it had gone.  The chasing slowed down, but it took mum a long long time to get back to sleep.

When she woke up there was a dead little mousie next to my bed.  Now it has had a mouse funeral in the rubbish bag.

A big day/night in the house of Q.

Wedding

Mum enjoyed watching the wedding last night.  It looked like a lovely day in Windsor and the couple looked so happy together.  Mum enjoyed seeing all the celebrities and the frocks and hats.

She was impressed that I came out to join her in the living room, but it may just have been that the heater was on.

Today we slept in and mum had a whole day at home with me.  She just pottered around and relaxed - two of her favourite things to do.  Tonight it is super windy outside -  we are glad to be safe inside.

Caturday Wedding

It has been a lovely day here in the city.  Mum had a sleep in, brunch with a friend, a walk in the sun, a little shop and a visit to the library.  now mum has sausage rolls cooling in the oven and a cold drink ready.   It's wedding time.  all the guests are seated and the family is just arriving.  Mum is quite excited.

I have gone to bed.

Oh now I have got up to join mum to watch.  Just beautiful - what a lovely couple.  It is making mum teary to watch.

Early

Our weekending started early.  Mum got called in twice last night and was still at work until 7am, which meant she got today off work.  She stopped and got groceries and came home to me.

She did try and stay awake - but alas her eyelids were too heavy and she curled up with me for a little sleep.  Then she got up and did housework and watched a couple if shows.

So now she is ready to head to bed with me.  No call tonight - so we should get a solid 8 hours.

Happy weekending everyone.

Told Off

I told mum off tonight for getting home late at 8pm.  She was at the hairdresser which took hours.  So I ate my dinner and then went back to bed - that will teach her!!!

Sunbeam

Finally there was a sunbeam today - the rain stopped about 4pm but mum had already parked herself on the couch.  She caught up on some shows and read her book.  Business as usual for winter.  Mum rushed in and made me do a modeling session.

Rains

It has rained for two whole days straight, but mum doesn't care too much because it is her day off.  She celebrated with an 8 hour sleep which was great, and helped to restore her batteries.  Mum then got herself up and outside.  It was just drizzling rather than pouring down, so mum went for a bit of a walk.  Then she went and met some friends for a lovely brunch.  She had kedgeree - a Scottish dish with rice, egg and smoked fish that mum likes.  The girls did a little wander round a couple of shops.

Mum then headed home for an afternoon of relaxing on the couch.  She dozed off while the news was on the tele, and then woke up and made her dinner.  A 4 vegetable mash with sausages was the dinner of choice tonight for mum, and I had a feast.

The rain is mean to continue tomorrow, so mum is going to pull out a merino jumper , jeans and boots again.  She has another fun day planned for herself planned.  Yippee for days off during the week.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy mothers day to all the mums out there - we hope you had a lovely day.  Mum had to work today but she said it all went ok.  When she got home though she planted herself on the couch and left only for short visits to the bathroom or kitchen - just like me really.

Now finally mum has two days off - her weekend begins tonight.

Caturday

Hi friends.  I slept - mum worked.  I had feast - mum had chicken wings and banana cake.  I slept 22 hours - mum slept 5.  I licked myself clean - mum gave herself a facial scrub and a hair treatment.

Hope you had a fun Caturday too!!!

Tired

Mum is feeling very tired tonight - she nodded off over dinner which made her think of her lovely nana, who used to do the same thing.  She has forgiven herself though as she worked until almost 11pm last night, and then had to come home and try and get herself to sleep, only to have to be up at 6am and off to work again today.  Luckily what she thought might be a horribly busy day ended up being pleasant with lovely company - she loves when that happens.

She also works on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, with having to get up early to be at work for 7am on both days.  So tonight she has had her shower and will dry her hair that tomorrow she can have a quick shower and give herself a bit of a lie in.  So it is a Middle Aged Lady Movie Tonight - she is watching Churchill while eating some fresh raspberries and custard.

Me - well I had my dinner and took myself off to bed early.  It is windy and wet outside tonight, and it turned dark quickly at 5.30pm.  With these long evenings I am tired too.  I know how you feel mum.

Guard Cats

Here in New Zealand we would say that 995% of kitty cats are indoor/ outdoors cats.  We usually have our own cat doors or we are allowed outside during the day and kept inside at night.

Cats are naturally more active at dawn and dusk.  In The evening, as mum walks home she sees lots of pussy cats sitting out by the front of their property waiting for their people.  Mum saw this cutie the other night waiting by their gate.

We live in a suburb with lots of gardens and not many cars.  We don't have any snakes/ cayotes/wolves or dangerous animals in our country.  The only dangers are dogs and cars.

Usually I am just sleeping, but I often run to the door to greet mum as she comes in.

Golden Skies

There were more beautiful evening skies tonight.  Mum had a walk and went to the library and supermarket on the way home.

She often worries about all the chores she should be doing instead if sitting down and watching a show.  However she did manage to do some jobs.  She did the dishes, she made tonight's dinner of a baked potato and steak, she marinated some chicken for tomorrow nights dinner, eggs were booked and mashed for tomorrow's lunch, washing was folded and put away , underwear and uniform put out for tomorrow morning and the recycling was sorted.  Jobs done.

Now it's time for us to snuggle on the big bed.

Pillow Fort

Sometimes your mum let's you sleep in the pillow fort all day cos she loves you.

Warm

We got a beautiful sunny day here in the city.  Mum and I slept in and then she got herself up and got some chores done.  The shower and toilet were scrubbed, the bedding aired out and washing on the line.

Mum walked to the market and got pumpkin, sweet potatoes, potatoes, turnip, parsnips and carrots.  She roasted a whole pile with some lamb for her dinner tonight.

Mum then came home and the warm sun was pouring through our bay window.  So she curled up on the bed next to me and read her book and then napped.  Perfect!!!

Caturday

This Caturday I spent most of the day camped out on mums shopping bag in her bed.  She has left it out for me all week and it has been a great napping spot.

It was cloudy and the clouds were black and low, but mum thought she needed to have an adventure.  She ventured out and met a friend for lunch.  Mum had the Asian noodles medium spicy, but were a bit too spicy , but mum still ate them all.

The girls went to a couple of shops.  Mum bought a wool cardigan and a wool poncho to keep her warm as we head towards winter.

It's getting darker earlier now, pitch black by 6pm so mum is happy to be home early and pull the curtains and relax with me.

We hope you alk got to do something fun on your Caturday.

Late

Mum got home late after work tonight.  She worked and then caught up with some friends.  Then she caught up with me.  There was some snuggling and patting and now some sleeping.

Let the weekend begin.

Chilling

We are just chilling here tonight thinking that the weekend will start tomorrow.  Mum was lucky and got to have Wednesday off with me, as she was on call overnight and was busy.  Si we got to sleep in and relax together.

Our nights are beginning to cool down.  Last night was the first night that the heater was on in the living room and in the bedroom.  Mum is trying hard to get her bedtimes more regular.  It has been easy in the summer to stay up late, but as winter draws in mum might as as well head off to bed early.

We know that most of you will think we are wimps complaining about our cold - it is 9 degrees C, but we do live in an old house that is draughty and cold.  We would be scared at the thought of snow and freezing temperatures.

Good night friends.

Hiding

Last week mum put some boxes on the spare bed, ready to be chopped up and went into the recycling.  I enjoyed hiding beside them so much that mum let me play beside them for a day.  They are now sent off in the recycling.  Bye bye boxes.
