Wordless Wednesday

Joy

Mum had a long busy day at work today.  She was on the early start and from the moment she put her bag down it was crazy and non stop.

When she finished though these things made her happy:

• She didn't have to wait for a bus to go into town after work.   As soon as she arrived at the stop a bus turned up.
• There was a good book waiting at the library ready to be picked up.
• Her new favorite chocolate chip biscuits were on special at the supermarket.   A pack of 10 large cookies are $3, the price similar ones are sold for each at at the hospital cafes.
• Dinner was quick and easy.  Spicy chicken and salad wraps.
• A small chocolate mousse and strawberries for dessert (mum walked to work this morning and was on her feet all day).
• Patting me and having a chat about my day when she got home.
• A warm and cozy bed to sleep in tonight with a good book to read.

Lush

With all the rain the back garden is looking pretty green and lush.  After downpours last night it only drizzled today, but the rain is due back tomorrow.  

Mum got her worst nights sleep last night in ages.  She did toss and turn until 3.30am which made the alarm call at 6am far too early.  She did get to finish her book though.   She went for a walk after work, and got groceries.   She fed me my feast and then made herself some meatballs and salad for dinner with a big salad.  She bought new seasons strawberries to snack on.

So mum had to avoid napping when she got home.  Wish her luck getting to sleep tonight - I don't need her watching me for hours again.

Stormy Spring Sunday

It is a stormy view outside the windows this Sunday evening.  Mum dragged herself out if bed, showered and dressed herself but that is it.  Today has been a laaaaaaaazy one.  She will tidy the kitchen tonight, but no other chores.  She finished her book and watched some shows so that has been good because she had a long week.

Me too - I need more rest too.

Insiding

It is blowing a gale outside today, so mums plans of hanging out the washing wasn't going to work.  She got a wee sleep in stayed in her dressing gown until the afternoon.   Then it was time to put the uniform back on and head out and brave the wind.

We sure are glad it is Friday - how about you?

Relaxing

I am busy relaxing today - last night was hard.  Mum went back into work from 11pm- 1am, then 2am-4am.  She only slept from 6am-9am, then back to work for the afternoon.   Luckily kill she can sleep in tomorrow as she is on an afternoon shift and then Saturday and Sunday she is free.

Also it was rubbish night which is a big night out for indoor outdoor cats, as we all go out and sniffles the bags and patrol our areas.  So I is tired too.

Wordless Wednesday

Morning View

This was mums view when she woke up this morning.   I was asleep on the little chair.  I had been up earlier, as you can tell by the gap in the curtains I have made.  I like to check out my garden and watch the birdies.  Then I nap - all day.

Little

It was a little quiet start to the week today.  Mum had a good day at work and enjoyed walking home in the sun with her shopping.  Yet again she forgot to put her phone in her bag and although she missed checking the Internet at lunchtime, it was nice to be phone free.  She left it on the charger tonight too.

I got to enjoy some sunshine too.

Spring Sunday

This beautiful blossom was all in bloom today as mum headed off for a walk.  She felt good this morning as last night she got a whole 8 hours if sleep.  When she awoke the sun was shining and the birds singing.

Mum went for an afternoon stroll into town and to soak up some vitamin D.  She got home by 4pm, in time to air the house for an hour, play in the garden with me, feed me my feast and bring in the washing.   Now it has cooled down, the clouds have come up from the south and brought rain with them.  So our doors and windows are closed again, I am snoozing on the bed and mum is watching Far From the Madding Crowd on the TV and eating chocolate chip biscuits .

Middle Aged Lady Pizza Party Big Night In Caturday

Mum had a great night of sleep - she has the midnight to 3.40am sleep down pat.  A pity about the rest of the night.  Still she managed to get up early and make herself presentable and went to her course.  It went well - interesting with good company and good quizzes and a great lunch.

Mum then went for a walk in the city where she wandered round aimlessly.   She came home and nodded off on the couch by 6pm.  She got my feast ready and had no energy to cook , but luckily pizza was at the house in an hour.

So she has a tummy full of cheesy,meaty goodness.   She has watched the News and Modern Family and is thinking that she will get us girls tucked up in bed and snoozing by 10.  Hopefully all night long.

Finally Friday

Hi friends we finally got a photo posted.  Mums shifts are over, and she has the weekend off but has to go to a 'study day' tomorrow.   For 5 hours unpaid.  Oh well.

So our fun Friday night is all about the chores.  Mum needs to hoover and tidy and wash her uniforms.   Yippee.   Luckily she has a pile of leftovers to eat.  Me - well I enjoyed my feast tonight as I was hungry.

We hope your Friday is going well with no dramas.  The news is filled with storms and earthquakes and the most boring of all - our upcoming elections.

Blogger is not letting us post any pictures tonight.  So no Wordless Wednesday post.  We will try tomorrow.

Sleepyhead

 Just as mum had climbed into bed, relaxed and closed her eyes last night the call phone rang and mum had to get back up, put her clothes on andwent into work.  She returned a couple of hours later, slept for two and then she was back in.  So she could turn the phone off at 8am.  She wishes she could have stayed up and been productive, but alas sleep was calling.  I joined her and we napped a lot of the day away.

She did get up for the evening, and felt like some comfort food.  So it was a quick lemon chicken risotto and a carrot/swede/parsnip mash.  Tasty and enough leftovers for another 3 meals, all portioned off and ready for the next shifts.

So dishes are being done close to midnight and mum will attempt to sleep soon.

Tired

Mum is tired today.  She managed to get four hours sleep last night and had an early start at work today.  She is on call tonight so she retreated to her bed when she got home - such a Nana.   I was happening an early feast and mum had leftovers from the other night.

We feel like we are moaning every day - please forgive us.

Sundaying

Sunday has finally rolled round.  Mum finally drifted off to sleep around 2am.  She was not thrilled that I chose to tell her loudly at 6.30am that the biscuit bowl was empty and that it would be prudent for her to arise and refilled it immediately.   Of course I did not actually eat any and went back to bed cos I was tired.

Mum stayed in her bed as it was cold and read her book.  She then decided to head into the fruit and vegetables market where she stocked up on carrots, parsnips, broccoli, swede, coriander, limes, tomatoes and a cucumber.  Lots of vegetables for the week.

The restaurants were busy as families were out celebrating Father's day.   Mum thought a lot about her own dad and how much she misses him.

Chilled Caturday

Well this Caturday certainly has been a chilled one.  Poor mum only got to go to sleep at 4am.  She woke to her alarm at 8am and then fell asleep until midday.   She then desperately wanted a nap but has fought it so that she can try and sleep tonight.

She washed and scrubbed and hovered this afternoon.   Dinner was easy Ramen noodles and now it's time for ice cream.

I helped mum by showing her how to get some sleeps.   We hope you all enjoy your Caturday and get lots of rest.

Bye Bye Winter - Hello Spring

Goodbye winter, time for you to go niw, although we know that you have a tendency to hang around for some time to come.

 Mum finished the night shift this morning.   She always intends to stay up all day to reset her body clock, but somehow it is never possible.  She had her breakfast out and then wandered home after 8am.  She watched one of the Diana documentaries that have been on this week.  So sad, and twenty years on it seems such a loss for her sons and tragic for her to be gone at only 36.

So now as our evening comes to a close mum is wide awake.  So she is going to do some tidying up and read her book and hopefully get some sleep.

Good Girl

Yippee tonight is the mumster st last night shift and then things should return back to normal.   Mum says that I have been a good girl.  When she gets home in the morning I sit and talk to mum and then usually curl up with her when she goes to sleep.  I have been letting her sleep and only comes back to talk to her and ask for a snuggle when she wakes up.

It helps that it has been dark, cool and raining the past few days making it easier for mum to sleep .  She heads to bed around 8.30am and sleeps to about 3.  She didn't have a nap this evening and would much rather stay home this wet night.

I had a feast for my dinner tonight and mum had a simple supper if beans on toast.   The dishes are done and mum has washed more of her clothes.   Mum doesn't eat much at work but she thinks she might treat herself tomorrow morning with breakfast out.

Wordless Wednesday

Sleeps

Mums first night of night shift was fine.  She even got to read a few chapters of her book and watch a couple of Seinfeld episodes on her phone.  When she got home, she had some food and drink before heading to bed.  I was really really good and let her sleep for a couple of hours before asking for a cuddle.

So now she is up and has some lamb and potatoes roasting for dinner.  She doesn't eat much while at work so a nice dinner is in order.

Night Shifting

Mums afternoon shifts have come to an end, but now she is finishing her seven day stretch with four nights of night shift.  Today is an odd day as she prepares to start work at 11.30pm.

Today she tried to sleep in for as long as she could, but she only managed until 7am.  She then took it easy puttering round the house.  It was raining outside  so she waited until there was a break in the weather to go out.  Supplies were brought and another pile of books from the library came home.

We then both had a nap for a couple of hours which was nice.   Now mum is beginning to get ready for her shift.   She will pack a little food and be optimistic and take her book.  So I am in charge overnight ready for her to get back in the morning.

Outsiding

The weather has been much milder this week. I have been outsiding feeling the breezes on my fur and mum let me roll around in some dried catnip.  

Work

Mums working again today.  We hope you enjoy your Caturday.

No Plans

Mum is now on another 7 days stretch of shift work, so she has cleared the schedule so that she can take it easy before she has to head to work.  Me too - I am cancelling all of my jobs to make sure that I get enough sleep.

Day Off

Mum got another day off today.  A lovely sleep in and then a visit to the hairdresser for an expensive refresh for mums grey hair.  I am fine with mine - no retouching necessary.

Mum visited the library again and the supermarket for weekly supplies.  She made a new recipe, a bacon mushroom pesto pasta which was nice.  It is easy to reheat and she has enough for the next couple of shifts.  So it will be put in containers and ready for mum to grab with a piece of fruit.

Oh and mum gave me a sachet of chicken and gravy for my dinner, and I surprised her by eating it down super quick.   An hour later I meowed over and over for more.  So she gave me another one - and I didn't eat it!!

What's Up?

Today I was out in the garden with mum while she hung out the washing.   I was keeping a goid eye out for neighbors.   We had ourselves a lazy girls day at home.  Mum read her book, watched some shows and took a nap.  I just napped - perfect!!

Monday Movie - Where Your Cat Goes

We thought you might like a movie to watch this Monday.  We kniw that most if our friends are indoor cats, but like most Kiwi cats i get ti have some indoor outside lifestyle living.  Mum does not think I wander far away.  Now I am getting older, like mum I am happy to stay close to home.

  The mumster has a lot of shifts in the next week so she has been food prepping like Doomsday is coming.  Our house is scented with roast chicken, potatoes, broccoli, carrots and beans.  

Towels are on the line, but the clouds are gathering again and it has grown chilly.  Mum has hovered the carpet and now relax for an hour or two before she has to ready herself for work.  It will be a strange week this week with odd shift patterns.  We guess the best thing is that there are no early starts this fortnight, and there is extra money on payday. 

Happy

I am happy with the new quilt.  I have tested out both sides of it and they both work well.

Caturday

 It is Caturday again folks, although for us it is late evening and the mumster is thinking that she will head off to bed soon.  Me - well I have been on her bed for hours already.   Mum put a new quilt on the bed tonight.  It has a touch of pink and birdies on it.  I approve.

She also finally got a u shaped pillow so that when she reads in bed she is more comfortable.   She has been thinking about one for months now and finally thought why not.  She will test drive it tonight.

She had a quiet day, lunch out with a friend with a spot of shopping.  Then home to do some chores and cook some dinner.

Now us girls are chilling.   Mum has a face mask on to clear her pores and is thinking that she has time to watch something quick on TV, and then it is time for bed.

Drinks

The mumster was late getting home tonight.  One of her colleagues was leaving and there were Friday night drinks.  Mum went, and like the old lady she is, had her usual lemon lime and bitters.  A couple of the boys were getting a bit messy - good on them.  Mum was the oldest there, and so retired early.  

Oh and by getting home late - she means 7.30pm.  Go mum!

Simple Suppertime

 Our friend Coral has asked for pictures of mums dinners so the mumster took these two.  This was last night's chicken breast with baked potato and salad.

Tonight mum cooked sausages with mashed potato and steamed veg.  She enjoyed both meals - me I am not interested in mums food at all.

In both cases mum cooked enough dinner to last for 2 nights.  So there is leftovers to be used tomorrown or at the weekend.   Mum doesn't that so that she only has to cook 2-3 nights a week.  Other nights she is happy with soup and toast or something easy .  She is trying to eat more veg and has cut back on her pasta/rice/bread consumption by about half in the past year.

Me - I am happy with my feast.

Wordless Wednesday

Betterer

I am feeling Betterer and back to normal today after my upset tummy yesterday.  I am eating and drinking as normal so mum isn't worried about me anymore.   Mum came home and talked to me and gave my furs a big brush which I enjoyed.

She made a chicken schnitzel for her dinner with salad.  It looked great but was a bit meh!!!  Don't your folks hate that!!

Sore Tummy

I woke mum up with a sore tummy.  Nothing like the sound of me being sick to get her up in a hurry.   I then wanted a cuddle.  I am OK now and have eaten my supper.  Mum has checked on me and she is not worried, but just a little sad that I am poorly.

Sunday Spot

You may be sick of photos of me on mums bed, but in reality it is where I spend 80% of my time at the moment.   We had a lovely sunny day yesterday, but got a cold rainy day today.  Mum managed to zip out between rain showers and met a bestie for the final film at the film festival.   She then went and got some supplies in.

Mum got home just  as the rain started pouring which was good as the groceries stayed dry.  She got my feast ready and then we had a nap for an hour.  Mum made some spicy chilli mince which she had with salad and wraps.

I am still in the bed keeping it warm for mum - my best job.

Sunbeam Caturday

Hello sunshine, we haven't felt 18deg c for some time, but you popped out and warmed us up today.  Mum was up with her bladder this morning again, but it was drizzly to start with, so she was slow to get the chores started.

Washing went on the line to get some vitamin d and mum opened up all of the windows and let the breezes in.  She watched a couple of shows and read some of her book.  She tried to comb me, but I didn't tolerate it for too long.

Mum got me a feast for dinner, and some leftovers for herself.  Now mum might put a face mask on and sit on the couch for an hour or two.

Friday

Hello Friday - it is always a good start to the weekend when the mumster has a day off. Middle aged lady bladder prevented her sleep in - at least I didn't get the blame for that one.  Mum gave me lots of pets and cuddles, which I tolerated for a bit.  Then she went out for the day.

I got to stare out the window and watch my birdies.  They sure look tasty.

The Huntress

OK we have to confess.   Mum found the mousie behind the curtain, and thinks it may have died of fright.  Anyways she will sleep better knowing the mouse is not crawling around eating my biscuits.  Still I will take my moment of glory.

The day was nice, it cleared after a  it of rain.  Mum went walking and got some groceries.   She needed to stick up a bit.  She made chicken/broccoli Alfredo pasta and a salad, with lots of leftovers.   There are grapes for supper and now the evening is cooling down, so the heaters on and time to start relaxing.   There is a documentary about Glen Campbell on TV that she started watching, very interesting and sad.

Wordless Wednesday - Guess What Mum Found

Tuesdaying

Tuesday already.  The mumster has this week off for a little staycation and she is enjoying our sleep ins and relaxing.  This morning she did not have to be up until 8am, and I came and snuggled with her twice.

She saw a couple of movies at the film festival in town and had a tasty lunch out of a filo parcel with Thai chicken filling and the nicest salad mum has had in a while.   She even got to pop into the library, and read a whole small book in the 2 hours she was there.

She headed home just as the rain started, so jacket and boots are drying.  There is no sign of the mouse that I had last night so mum hopes it has truly gone.  Me well I kept our side of the bed warm.

Mouse House

Mum did make the mistake of telling someone recently that it had been a couple of years since I had caught either a mouse or a bird.  Big mistake.

So in the afternoon mum heard me race around the bedroom and then bathroom and then saw me potter into the lounge chasing a little mouse.  She shut the doors to the rest of the house,  and opened the front door.  I did spend an hour trying to find mickey mouse, and mum hopes it got away outside and is not still inside.

I mean while have eaten my dinner and gone to bed.  I am zonked after my busy afternoon.
